I recently joined @MSUArmyROTC for a 64-minute run honoring Alex Powell and his legacy. What began as cadets carrying a game-day football 64 miles between @michiganstateu and @UMich has grown into a community challenge supporting students with disabilities. #WhatsYour64

⁉️ Would you trust it? How can you be sure your sports helmet will protect your head? What prevents an e-bike battery from catching fire? Would you trust a drone to drop your order at the right doorstep? Every day, people rely on products and services they can’t personally inspect or test, and few stop to ask why they feel so sure. The answer often comes down to #Standards. That’s the focus of the ANSI 2027 Student Paper Competition, now in its 16th year. This year’s theme: “Would You Trust It? Exploring How Standards Build Confidence in Products, Services, and Emerging Technologies.” High school and college students can choose one of three focus areas: 🛡️ Products: sports equipment, clothing, and wearables; autonomous and micromobility vehicles; food safety 📦 Services: social media and e-commerce; food delivery 🤖 Emerging technology: artificial intelligence; biometrics Students with a different idea can propose their own topic, subject to approval. Prizes: ✅ $1,000 for the top high school paper ✅ $1,500 for the top paper from a student at an institution of higher learning ✅ A $20 gift card and certificate of submission for every qualifying entry ✅ Winning papers published on ansi.org and shared with the domestic and international standards community Submissions must be original work (not AI-generated) and not previously published. 📅 Entries are due June 11, 2027.
