To honor the late Bob Uecker, the Brewers have adopted America's "You Can Do Magic" or "Ueck Can Do Magic" as a theme song for the playoffs. But I wonder how many of them realize that not only are they honoring Uecker, they also might be exorcising a curse with that song (1/2)
Why? Because when the Brewers lost the 1982 World Series to the Cardinals, after Game 7 NBC used that song to accompany a highlight montage of World Series MVP Darrell Porter. Don't believe me? Go to the end of this youtube.com/watch?v=398HlHU7… (2/2)
I caught the tail-end of the Steel Curtain era in 1979 and have been a #Steelers fan ever since. Since I'm not from Pittsburgh, I have to either go to a bar or get the Sunday Ticket to watch games. In 2010, I often went to a Steelers bar called @IrishExitNYC in Manhattan (1/5)
The place was always packed with Pittsburghers who had moved to NY (and me, who had moved from Rhode Island). Unfortunately, that season would end in heartbreak at the hands of ... well, the current Steelers QB and coach, Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy in SB XLV. (4/5)
I bitched a lot about #Steelers defense today. But they again got the big stop when they needed it and gave up only 10 points. Then again Olave was wide open for what would have been the go-ahead TD.
This 9:30 start totally threw me off. I saw people wearing Jets shirts walking down the street and wondered how the Jets did.
Omg totally forgot to put on my #Steelers jersey after rolling out of bed for the game today. I'm beginning to think they might not actually need me to wear it for them to win.
Queen would be Reggie White if #Steelers played all their games in Europe. Before this sack his previous one was in Dublin last year.
I protest the reversal of that fumble. Should still be 3-0. #Steelers
