It’s the cover up that is almost worse than the scandal.

The entire £83,000 #CelebrityTraitors prize fund going towards supporting refugees and queer displaced people feels bloody wonderful in such wretched times marked by fearmongering and inhumane politics – even more so knowing there will be many right-wingers enraged by that. ❤️

“Being left-wing can create a little problems sometimes in the United States, but I would have fun with it! There’s nothing like being at a dinner party in Beverly Hills with fancy guests and telling them you’re a socialist.”

After yesterday’s post about the Russell Brand trial, my inbox was flooded with people claiming this is all just a coordinated media conspiracy.
Well, I hope those same people actually read what came out of Southwark Crown Court today, because Brand took the witness stand and completely shredded his own defense.
Under cross-examination, he openly admitted to "inconsistencies" in his evidence, awkwardly asking the prosecution for forgiveness.
Even more damning, his own barrister asked him if a single friend or colleague from twenty-five years in showbusiness was willing to stand up in that courtroom and speak for his character.
His answer was no. Not a single person would touch him with a barge pole. Think about what that actually means. Decades surrounded by entourages, agents, and industry friends, and not one human being is willing to take an oath on his behalf.
Then look at how he described women to the jury today.
He admitted saving a complainant’s name in his phone labeled with a degrading slur and a sexual act. When asked if a woman expressed reluctance to an encounter, he casually dismissed her hesitation as "coquettishness and coyness."
This is not a misunderstood free-thinker being silenced for his politics. This is an arrogant narcissist who used celebrity status to treat women like disposable commodities, and is now watching his carefully rehearsed narrative crumble under basic legal scrutiny.
Stop falling for the staged internet guru act. The admissions coming out of his own mouth in that courtroom tell you everything you need to know.

This seems like a great time to reshare my favourite Sir Patrick Stewart performance, ‘What has the ECHR ever done for us?’ It’s just perfect in every possible way … including the ending 😂😂😂 RIP.

Good to join @AliFortescue tonight on the @cathynewman show.
The Budget tomorrow will be a budget that will help give people some breathing space at a time of higher cost of living - thanks to events in the Middle East - whilst making progress on devolution and economic growth.
Don't expect lots of major policy decisions in budget, says Starmer's former right-hand man
"It would be odd for this budget to start making lots of policy decisions" before Burnham's ten-year plan is published, ex-chief secretary to the PM Darren Jones tells @AliFortescue.

What a horrendous individual Michael Gove is. Recommend IDF for a Nobel Peace Prize and denies a genocide is taking place in Gaza. The country is down the shitter because of people like this scum. It's a lot deeper than a load of white stuff up the hooter.

I see the sanctimonious, sloganizing, po-faced puritans of @TheGreenParty are attacking @andyburnham for giving up his free time and using his platform to raise money for people affected by cancer. The more media coverage these cranks get, the better it is for @UKLabour
'Is that a really good use of his time?'
'Raising money for a cancer charity?'

This is somewhere between deeply irresponsible and a lie.
HMRC will be able to "seize money" from people who owe tax, aren't disputing it, but just fail to pay. That's people who cause the rest of us to pay more tax.

#UK: A pioneering heart surgeon who has saved and transformed the lives of thousands of children received a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards.
Mr Asif Hasan, who retired earlier this year from Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, has dedicated more than three decades to caring for children with complex heart conditions and helping establish Newcastle as one of the world’s leading centres for paediatric heart surgery and transplantation.
Throughout his career, Mr Hasan performed more than 4,000 open-heart operations, including approximately 3,000 procedures as lead surgeon. These figures do not include countless emergency call-outs, lifesaving interventions and out-of-hours procedures undertaken during his career.
