Can we stop glorifying sending 12 year olds 5 states away for “tournaments” in 🇺🇸 youth soccer as if it’s a good thing?
Meanwhile, in Spain, players barely leave their region…

The internet is FOREVER.
My husband makes 500k-750k. We own our house outright. We have no debt. My kids college funds are done. I still work. I have never had any desire not to, though I have worked from home for the entirety of my kids lives.
I don’t like early childcare. It’s very tedious, isolating, frustrating, boring. I simply have no desire to do it for more than 6 hours a day. After every weekend, I am glad Monday is coming because I don’t have to mind small kids for the entire day.
I would quit my job to homeschool my children age 5+, but I do not want to deal with them all day every day when they are 4 and under.

All of these schools are probably filled with BLOAT of administrative + support staff that is totally unnecessary. I remember reading a study recently on the ratio of students to Admins at Ivy League schools and it was ridiculous.
Colorado College is cutting athletics spending. Cleveland State eliminated three sports. Purdue Fort Wayne cut two. Bryn Athyn eliminated all 11.
Meanwhile, Sonoma State is bringing athletics BACK after eliminating it.
College athletics is facing a fascinating contradiction.
For some institutions, athletics is an expense they can no longer afford.
For others, it’s an enrollment strategy they can’t afford to lose.
The question isn’t simply what athletics costs.
It’s what the institution loses without it.

I was sitting in my college dorm room that day on 9/11. I was finishing a bowl of cereal, Apple Jacks. I was watching the new as I usually did. I picked up my LL Bean orange book-bag, put on my Adi-Slides and was walking out of my room.
I always left the TV on, I don't know why... I just always did. I will never forget those words:
"This just in, we have unconfirmed reports this morning that a plane has crashed into one of the World Trade Centers."
I don't know why, but it caught me. I turned around, walked back in, and sat there watching. I sat down after the two reporters said what was going on. I was watching for maybe 5 minutes when the person reporting live on the feed screamed "Oh my God" when the 2nd plane crashed into the other tower. My heart raced, my head went into my hands.
I must have sat there for 1.5 hours. Maybe more. When the towers collapsed, I remember getting nauseous. I tried to comprehend the scale of what had just happened. Witnessing people throwing themselves to their death instead of burning alive. Watching the 2nd plane hit LIVE on TV. Knowing the death toll was likely in the thousands.
I left my dorm room after the 2nd tower collapsed. People were weeping in the common area outside my suite where I lived with several soccer teammates. I will never forget one of the girls on the Lacrosse team from the Long Island area screaming that her Father and Uncle were "NYC firemen" and that they could be dead.
I know of no greater tragedy and cowardly act in my life. It was an act that defined my generation perhaps. I prayed no generation ever faced the weight of an act like that again.
The only time I ever felt that way again... October 7th 2023.
God help us all.
Stop calling it futsal if you are not teaching futsal and you are just masquerading soccer ⚽️ players around in small sided games calling it “futsal.”
🛑 Futsal is its own game, not a “training program” you make players in your club pay extra for to be able to train indoors.
The average 🇺🇸 sports fan simply doesn’t comprehend the sheer scale of football support both domestically and world wide.
Makes the NFL and NBA look like the junior pee-wee 🏈 program in your hometown.
