GERS 25:26 28th yr of voluntary publication. GERS are not “Westminster propaganda”. They are official @ScotGov statistics, produced every year voluntarily by qualified statisticians employed by the Scottish Government. No First Minister has ever denied their accuracy. They are not a forecast of independence. They are the hard starting point. In 2025-26 Scotland raised £98.3bn and spent £123.6bn for our benefit — a £25.3bn deficit (10.9% of GDP).
For every £1 we earned we spent £1.26. Last five years average: the same £1.26.
That is funded entirely by UK pooling and sharing. Scotland does not subsidise England — we receive far more than we raise. An independent Scotland would inherit that structural gap. Closing it would require brutal, generational tax rises and spending cuts. No amount of denial changes the arithmetic. The numbers are clear. Independence starts from a £25bn black hole. gov.scot/publications/govern…

Update: this man has been removed from the retirement home TWO YEARS later after an "out-of-court agreement". What on earth is happening in Britain.
If you want to know how utterly insane the UK is right now read this: Last year, a man named Shahidul Haque, 55, who is on benefits, claims he is "disabled" because of "obstructive sleep apnoea" and depression, and cannot speak English, was moved into a retirement home in Berkshire. A retirement home. His rent? £110 a week. A few months later, he brought his 28-year-old wife and two children into the retirement home, claiming he did not know he was not allowed to do this because he cannot speak English and read tenancy documents. After the elderly neighbours complained about anti-social behaviour and sought his eviction, Shahidul Haque said he should not be evicted because it would be a breach of his "human rights". His lawyers are using the European Convention on Human Rights to try and prevent his eviction. Our "leaders" are giving foreigners who do not speak English subsidised housing in retirement homes for our elderly because they claim to have "depression". This is insane. This has to stop.

Read some history! The idea of an oil fund was extensively debated in the 1970s and 80s. It’s all in Hansard. Criticising the decision not to establish one is perfectly legitimate. But pretending the possibility was denied until yesterday is just idiotic.
Replying to @LauraEWebsterr
So forgive me if seeing the actual Chancellor suddenly admit that yeah actually we would have an oil fund worth over a trillion - just like Norway - and trotting it out as a great big Labour talking point is completely infuriating

I am in shock. I started to actively use X at the end of August this year. I was annoyed and angered at the anti-Semitic tropes being used freely in the mainstream media, the representation of Israel and the intimidation of the Jewish community in Ireland and around the world. I had had enough. So I started posting. By the end of September I had about 80 followers. Yesterday, when I woke I had 1.4k. Then I posted the first in my series entitled “Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong”. This morning I have 14k followers. I want to thank everyone who helped along the way, for the likes, follows and reposts. Please know this is only the beginning. Having worked in the media and seeing the level of antisemitism and misinformation out there, I am going to be an antidote. I am Israeli. I stand with the Jews and those who are pro-Israeli. I have no energy for the lies, hate and bile of antisemites and pro-Palestinians. Please spread the word. The next installment of “Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong” will be published in the coming days. Thank you from my heart.✊🇮🇱✡️💪❤️

Below is a video of Sam Beckman who spat at and showed the finger to a statue of the murdered MP Sir David Amess. The pro-Palestinian lives in Westcliff-On-Sea in Essex, let's make him famous.
The pro-Palestinian scumbag who spat on Sir David Amess’s statue is Sam Beckman from Westcliff-on-Sea. He changed his account name the first time he was exposed. "The best of humanity,” according to many politicians, including Labour MPs.

1/ Lots of nationalists crying “but Sir Ian Wood definitely did tell us the oil was running out”. North Sea oil *was* running out in 2014, just as it is running out today. The question has always been about the quantity of economically recoverable reserves left to extract.
1/ Nationalists often claim the No campaign in 2014 told them oil & gas would run out within 5 years, and this BBC article is always the evidence. Slight problem. The article simply describes a report produced by some environmentalists. And the UK government called it “nonsense”.

Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

The SNP, including Sturgeon, has apologised to long dead witches but they have not apologised to the families of care home residents who died of the deadly virus after a damning UK Covid Inquiry criticised them for a lack of preparedness. The SNP must be held to account.

I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

My God, you gotta watch this, everyone. This train worker is wearing a Palestine badge and he gets questioned quite rightly for it by a Jewish passenger at Farringdon Station in London. During the confrontation, he denied Hamas’s responsibility for October 7th and claimed Israel killed its own civilians. He then threatened to have the Jewish passenger forcefully removed from the station. What the actual FUCK is wrong with these crazies!!

The Home Office is offering landlords double the market rate to kick out tenants and house illegal migrants instead. Everything about this is disgusting - including the fact that it takes properties off the market for everyone else. Yet again, this Government rewards criminals.

The leader of the Reform UK group at Devon County Council has been told to apologise to council officers and undergo training after being accused of bringing the authority “into disrepute”. The action followed his safeguarding concerns about giant sex toys and “chemsex” literature displayed at an LGBTQI+ event stall in Exeter Library, next to the children’s area. One mother complained that she had to explain to her six- and seven-year-old children what the giant purple prosthetic penis was for. Councillor Michael Fife Cook faced a Standards Committee hearing after emailing colleagues to raise safeguarding concerns. Two council officers then submitted code of conduct complaints. In his email to fellow Reform UK councillors and council officials, Fife Cook wrote: “Our council officers can’t be trusted in safeguarding children. What consenting adults do with each other in the privacy of their own homes is their concern, but any normal person would look at what was on show at this event and would believe it was not appropriate for young children. “To me this makes us all complicit in promoting and encouraging sexualisation of children. “To allow future events like this in property owned by the public will be rightly deemed as reprehensible and we will all be at fault.” Despite Fife Cook’s request for the three-hour Standards Committee meeting to be held in public, the public and press were excluded. The committee found that Councillor Fife Cook had failed to treat others with courtesy and respect and had brought the council into disrepute. He was cleared of allegations of bullying, compromising the council’s impartiality and causing the council to breach a statutory duty. After the hearing, Fife Cook said: “I wonder what the public will take from a standards meeting held in private at County Hall, aimed at rebuking a councillor for speaking out about the lack of safeguarding for children. “Will the public applaud such a draconian procedure, or will they wonder if the council’s time and money would be better spent working to improve the services provided for all the people of Devon?” Elected representatives must be free to raise concerns on behalf of their constituents, especially safeguarding concerns, without facing vexatious complaints or being silenced by unelected council officers. The Free Speech Union is supporting Michael’s legal challenge because Codes of Conduct must not be weaponised to silence legitimate political speech. A victory could help protect councillors across England from similar disciplinary action. Read more below and donate to our crowdfunder 👇

Since I wrote and filed this last night Fintan Slye, who’s remuneration is almost £1m/year to run state-owned Neso, the organisation responsible for managing Britain’s power system, told staff he was “disappointed” in himself and “should have fixed” the problems before an independent report raised them. There’s still a widespread feeling in Neso that he puts carrying out the government’s net zero wishes/obsessions way above the concerns of his staff.

Security called me at 6:12 AM today. "Patch every PHP server immediately." I asked what happened. "Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required." Cool. How many PHP servers do we have? According to inventory: 12 According to reality: Nobody knows. We found one running WordPress. Three running old internal tools. One under someone's desk. Two inside vendor appliances. A forgotten employee directory from 2016. And a server named: PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH Naturally, that one runs payroll exports. Then we found a PHP 5.6 box. I asked who owned it. The documentation said: BRIAN. Brian left in 2019. We called Brian. He said: "Oh wow, that's still running?" Excellent. By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call. CEO: "Can hackers actually get in?" Security: "Potentially yes." CEO: "Without a password?" Security: "Yes." CEO: "Then why do WE need passwords?" Not the lesson. Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue. Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers. Finance asked for a cost comparison. At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline. Marketing refused. "Our campaign is live." So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover. We finally patched everything we could find. Then our scanner discovered another PHP server. Hostname: TEMP-PHP-2014 Uptime: 4,512 days. Nobody knows what it does. Nobody owns it. Nobody can shut it down. But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels. Security has classified it as critical infrastructure. It is running PHP 5.4. The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees. The emergency patch took four hours. Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven. The internet isn't held together with code. It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.
