Today is National Ice Cream Day, but just another day at the Scott house. I hope when I am gone my friends will say "He always kept the season well." Happy Ice Cream Day! #icecream #nationalicecreamday #rockyroad #chocolate #braums #everyday – at Norman, OK

Independence Day...THIS Is America's Origin Story: While some deride America for her faults, demagogues blame those faults on the "others" in an attempt to lock out the huddled masses that once made our country great. While both sides try to rewrite history, I choose to believe in the America that struggles imperfectly towards the recognition in the Declaration, that all of us were created equal. – at Norman, OK

One of the great influences on my life was the literature of Ernest Hemingway. My passion for Africa was inspired by The Green Hills of Africa, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, and The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber among others. Behind us is the very studio/desk/typewriter Papa used to write many of his greatest novels and short stories. – at Key West, FL

It was a great victory for the Sooners. HOWEVER, storming the field? And before the game is over? I know it has been a difficult year, but we are not a second-tier wannabe team. We are OKLAHOMA...act like it. #soonerfootball #boomersooner #oklahomaFootball #playlikeachampiontoday – at Norman, OK

Wild Weather: Though not unusual for Oklahoma this time of year, this week has been particularly difficult for the many communities experiencing loss of life and property. Still, the light show can be spectacular. #wx #tornado #weather #storm thunderstorm #sunset – at Norman, OK

Had the pleasure of meeting my fourth granddaughter this weekend. Genevieve "Gigi" Ruth Stillwell is the daughter of Hayley Stillwell and her husband Caleb. So little and cute! Charlotte loves her as well. My heart is full!

Inauspicious Start: We left for the AP at 4am for a 6am UAL connecting to #Belize. A "system-wide" issue would not allow us boarding passes. Found an @AmericanAir itinerary that gets us there this afternoon, & for less money. We are tired, but very happy to be flying today!

USA's Best Idea: Before Kruger Yosemite or Serengeti, there was Yellowstone; the 1st ntnl park in the world est. today in 1872. This preservation idea has spread throughout the world and provides an awe-inspiring legacy for the next generation of conservationists. #Yellowstone

RIP Wilbur Smith: You helped me pass time on untold numbers of flights and hides with your swashbuckling, adventurous, and sometimes erotic historic novels, all based in Africa. You fanned my passion for adventure and conservation and for that, I thank you. Rest well, my friend.

Only In Namibia: They call it 'The Beautiful Land', and with good reason. Massive dunes juxtaposed with impressive wildlife are an example. Gemsbok in Sossusvlei never disappoint. #gemsbok #sossusvlei #namibia #wildlife #photosafari #africa #stevescotttv #safarihuntersjournal
