Until a viable third party emerges, independents will not be that check against nonsense like this.
They will hold their nose and vote for the party that most closely matches their beliefs on primary issues.
Democrats could do all of these things, and left leaning independents would still vote for them instead of against them.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you call yourself a Democrat, and you're stabbing Abdul El-Sayed in the back while he's being attacked by shitty, bigoted Republicans during the 11th Hour of a winnable election, FUCK YOU for choosing that.
We will NOT forget this.

Horrific, failed Iran War endorsed in Politico.
No mention of Minab. No mention of U.S. casualties. Both dismissed as “rage.”
Just “war is best, actually” talking points.
To add to the author’s unproven what ifs with a proven one - “what if” more Iranian children are killed?

Elon Musk pointed at the President. The President pointed back. Then the entire Trump administration stepped aside and left him standing alone with the switch in his hand.
That’s how the most powerful private man in space spent the last two weeks: abandoned by his own allies, scolded by his own customers, and arguing with fan accounts at 2 a.m.
Let’s walk through it.
October 10: Trump warns Ukraine to stop hitting Russian oil refineries.
Days later: Musk posts “Zelensky has gone too far.”
October 14: Ukraine’s satellite connections start failing mid-mission. No warning. Drone strikes disrupted. Interceptors that protect Ukrainian cities struggling to stay connected.
Pure coincidence, surely. Just a routine terms-of-service update that happened to land days after the President got angry at Ukraine.
Then the blame game.
Musk: Starshield limits are decided “by the US military and ultimately POTUS.”
Trump: “It wasn’t us.” And he didn’t think it was Musk either.
Rubio: didn’t know beforehand, it’s a commercial matter.
Hegseth: the Pentagon didn’t direct it.
The Wall Street Journal: Musk ordered it.
Musk, a week later: SpaceX “closed the loophole.”
He tried to hide behind the President, and the President’s own cabinet stepped out of the way. The man who spent this year as Washington’s most powerful ally couldn’t find a single official willing to take the hit for him.
Then came the excuses. Terms of service. Offensive drones. Kessler syndrome. Khrushchev. 1783. A 2022 peace plan that would have left Kherson under occupation. Slurs for a journalist. “Burn in hell” for everyone else.
Four explanations, zero documents, and one Doge account cheering him on.
Then a customer spoke up.
Poland’s foreign minister, a government that pays for Starlink in Ukraine, wrote to him publicly:
“Hey, big man, are you playing politics with your products again? As your European customers, we are watching you.”
Read that again. A NATO frontline state, talking to the richest man alive like a teenager caught with the car keys.
That’s not a complaint ticket. That’s a sovereign customer saying: we no longer trust you.
And that’s the real humiliation.
Governments don’t buy bandwidth. They buy certainty. They buy the guarantee that their soldiers’ communications won’t go dark because one man in Texas had feelings about a refinery strike.
Elon just proved, in public, with timestamps, that this guarantee doesn’t exist.
Every defense ministry on Earth now has a case file titled “What happens when Musk decides.” Every satellite procurement meeting from Warsaw to Paris now includes a new line item: Musk risk.
Europe’s telecom giants were already exploring alternatives before this. Elon just wrote their sales pitch for free.
Think about how badly you have to play a hand this strong.
He built the most important communications network of the war. Ukraine praised him. Ukraine asked him to cut off Russian drones, and he did. He was indispensable.
He took the one thing his company sells governments, which is trust, and set it on fire for a two-week ego trip.
Now his own allies won’t defend him. His customers are warning him. Senators from both parties want answers. And his best defense is a fan edit with a podcast clip.
Elon wanted the world to understand how much power he holds.
He succeeded.
Now the world is going to spend the next decade, and billions of dollars, making sure he never holds it again.
That’s not a tantrum. That’s a legacy.

Ukraine today is Britain in 1940, standing alone against aggression while others debate. The U.S. and Europe have a moral and practical obligation to stand with them. I joined @JessicaDean on @CNN.

If @elonmusk is willing to turn off Starlink for the Ukrainians, what's to say he won't do it to us here in the US if we displease him?

I wonder if even his ego is starting to sense that he done fucked up.

The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.”
I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.

Musk's super PACs have now spent over $400 million to buy the midterm elections.
This campaign is not just about Democrats vs. Republicans.
It’s about whether the world’s first trillionaire can buy our government.
Say NO to Musk. Say NO to oligarchy. Say yes to democracy.

I don't believe that Musk turned off Starlink to Ukraine at his own sole initiative. I believe Trump is implicated up to his painted eyebrows. But if it should be true that Musk did it - then Starlink and Space X must be nationalized by the US government immediately.

A direct result of Musk/Trump throttling Ukraine's Starshield today. Six people dead, including a one year old baby and mother.
Ukraine built their new jet drone interceptor fleet upon the high-speed Starlink satellite feed, but the US turned it off to help Putin inflict atrocities to the level that Zelensky surrenders before Trump's election.
Musk, Trump, Hegseth and Elbridge Colby are murderers.
Elon and Trump are traitorous scum.
Enough is enough! 🤬
Hey Americans who support Trump & Putin, Elon Musk, take a good look, take a good damn good look! Blood of innocent children of Ukraine is on your hands now, you won’t be able to talk yourselves out of this!
A horrific Russian strike on the Kharkiv region in Ukraine. A Shaheds drone targeted people directly in a park.
Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed, her name was Angelina.
