That was a good bivvy! Left Drumavuic after lunch on Saturday and reached the summit of Beinn Sgulaird after sunset. Cloud poured over ridges and would continue to do so for most of the night. I found a sheltered spot just under the summit. #Munros #bivvy #Scotland

🚨The Sphinx has melted!🚨 Despite a very considerable dump of fresh snow over the last 36 hours, I regret to inform everyone that Scotland's last piece of snow from the previous winter, The Sphinx, has disappeared. Two seasoned mountain men attended the location in poor weather yesterday, dug down to where the patch would have been, but found nothing. This is the SIXTH year in succession that the Sphinx has melted, and the fifth year in a row that all Scottish snow patches have melted.

Sunday wandering from Sgurr Choinnich to An Sidhean via Maoile Lunndaidh. Amazingly windless for most of the day. A light breeze when set up #Bivvy for the night. I slept under a beautiful starry sky listen to bellowing stags. #Munros #Corbetts #NWHighlands

I woke on Monday morning to see a big stag standing in front of this sunrise. What a sight! I was too slow getting my camera out - a wonderful memory though.

A stunning autumn day on Saturday walking over the 5 #Munros of the Lochnagar circuit. The cold cut like a knife first thing. By early afternoon there were pleasant temps in sheltered spots. This is always a great walk. #Lochnagar #CairngormNP

Two nights bivvying in Cairngorm NP at the weekend. Trees provided me with the best shelter from the wind - so glad I didn’t go for the scenic option! Two really good long sleeps! #bivvy #bivy #Cairngorms #Munros #Scotland

A windy day on Sunday but at least all the summits were clear! Wandered over 12 #Donalds surrounding the Ettrick Valley. Light showers with long lasting rainbows in the early afternoon. A very enjoyable day with so few people about. #Scotland #Borders #Ettrick

Sunday on Conival and Ben More Assynt. Mist cleared to reveal an amazing landscape of rock leading to the sea in the west. This is a special place! #Assynt #Scotland #NWHighlands

Walking between layers of cloud on an ascent of Sgorr Dhearg and Dhonuill on Saturday morning. This was ethereal watching clouds roll over ridges and swamp glens and was so unexpected. Two clear summits to view the world from! #Munros #Glencoe #Ballachulish #Scotland

Saturday morning I packed up my bivvy on Creach Bheinn and headed for a long wander over Beinn Sgulaird and Beinn Fhionnlaidh. Summits were cloud free and it was great picking out and naming the surrounding #Munro summits. For me the best day of the summer! #Scotland

Friday night #bivvy on the #Corbett Cruach Bheinn by Loch Creran at the edge of the summit plateau. Amazing views up to #Glencoe and over to Mull. The indigo night sky had millions of stars - a night to remember!

The wind on Saturday night slowly subsided at sunset. Bivvied between Culardoch and Carn Liath. With a poor visibility forecast for Sunday would I see Ben Avon? A very fortunate day indeed! #Corbetts #Invercauld #Cairngorms #BenAvon

Packed up my summit #bivvy and headed for the eastern #Glenshee #Munros Cool up high with some light showers. Wandered over to the remoter tops of Little Glas Maol and Druim Mor - fantastic views down to the River Isla. #Scotland

Friday night summit #bivvy at 975m. Chilly. Snuggled down to sleep in a tight spot - my sit mat was used to stop my bag rubbing against boulders. There was no view at sunset. Sometime during the night the cloud cleared and I marvelled at the stars above me. #Munros #Glenshee

Long walk through the vast empty landscape of Strath Mulzie to the summit of Carn Ban but Seana Bhraigh and its An Sgurr top proved to be the star of the show #scottishmountains #northhighlands #munros

A different ascent this time of Brown Cow Hill in summer - the peat hags were dry and were easy to wander through. I wasn’t cold and wet from slushy first snow. I saw expansive views to the #Cairngorms and the gentle northern horizon. A good day! #Corbetts #Deeside

Headed far east to escape the wet forecast. Very windy for a Friday night summit #bivvy on Geallaig Hill. Draughty in my sanctuary despite the thickness of the walls around me. #Lochnagar and the #Cairngorms were shrouded in cloud: clear to the east. #Grahams #Scotland

Saturday in Glen Lyon catching views between the well dispersed showers. Climbed Stuchd an Lochain - love all the saxifrages - and onto Meall Buidhe and Carn Chreag. Cloud bases rose, fell and rose again. There’s a great feeling of remoteness here. #Munros #Corbetts #GlenLyon
