The unconventional nature of the Commons forces players to think about the game differently.
Inspired by Scottish links like North Berwick’s Children’s Course, the engaging, strategic 12-hole design bridges the gap between championship courses and par-3 courses.

Rodeo Dunes, a luxury golf resort being developed 40 minutes east of Denver, plans six courses and a walkable village. Its first course opens to the public in 2027. Developer Michael Keiser says tee times sold out almost overnight. bizjournals.com/denver/news/…

The U.S. Mid-Am is over.
Now let’s talk Sand Valley.
Which courses are you playing?

This week at the Lido, 264 competitors (194 natural ams and 70 of the born-again variety) aged 25 or older are battling it out for the Robert T. Jones Jr. Memorial Trophy at the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur.
It’s quite a triumph for Lido to host such a prestigious @USGA national championship so soon after opening (officially May 15, 2023), as well as a credit to both the brilliance of this C.B. Macdonald design and the work by Peter Flory, Tom Doak and Brian Schneider in resurrecting it.
Commons at Sand Valley

Highly Recommend this place. Par 5 to open is helpful cause then you better hit good shots or doubles can happen. Greens are wild. Par 3s are so good with varying distances. Hole 7 was fantastic and the finishing stretch 10-12 is out of this world. Great work again by Keiser

Jeff Heaton, former superintendent at nearby Geneva National, has pitched a 10-hole course on the south side of nearby Elkhorn, WI. It will require some rezoning but this is the proposed location per city documents.

The Commons at Sand Valley is an awesome edition to an already awesome resort. Show here in pic 1 is final hole (12), the 9th hole and the last 3 holes (10-12).
Awesome design by Jim Craig and my friend @StretchZee who spent a lot of time out there!
You should 100% fit a round in on The Commons when you book your trip up here!

I absolutely loved the Commons at Sand Valley. Starts out with a short par 5 (452 yds - 3rd pic). Has 3 distinct par 3 and a bunch of cool par 4’s from around 300 yds to 370 yds. A great Biarritz style green (pic 2) and I really enjoyed the last 3 holes on the peninsula (1st pic and 4th pic…hole 12).
It was fun to see this come together from the start. Great work on this by @StretchZee who did a lot (most) of the shaping.

The Commons sits in the space between big courses and short courses. It is similar to Cabot Citrus Farms’ The Squeeze: one par 5, some par 3s and a bunch of short par 4s.
It won’t fully open until 2026. Will be an ideal second-round (and sunset) spot. Grateful for the preview.

There have been many mishaps and unserious moments in women's golf over the years. I don't think I'm being hyperbolic in saying this stupid pool takes the cake. Gives away all of the positive momentum from the move to Memorial Park. Just a completely asinine decision.
