Right, except they aren’t just making fun of Vivek, are they?
They literally said “we all know a person like this,” ridiculed Kash’s eyes, and laughed about common Hindu Indians being hated by white groypers. It’s not just Hindu-phobic; it’s blatant racism.
Do you attend any kind of festivity or public gathering? Use a car instead of public transport? Take a flight? Live in an urban area? Not sort your trash?
Congrats, you have a kink for ruining an entire nation.🔥
What would have made the movie Ramayana typical Hindu right-wing stupidity? The movie mostly stuck to its source.

Since you’re an American, maybe let the Indians decide what’s the right term to call themselves?
Replying to @ZaidJilani
Parasite? Dude I’m not jealous of India. I’m an American a country that is fifty times better than India in every way. I just find it hilarious you think because of this artificial line in the ground these countries are drastically different. Mental disease.
- The choreography is closer to Egyptian hieroglyphs than Indian dance forms.
- The dance moves are random and completely detached from the lyrics.
- Perpetuates the head-nod stereotype.
- “Indian culture” starter pack
It’s probably an improvement by NRI standards [derogatory].
Apple’s new Diwali film (Step Into the Light) is visually stunning. But there’s something oddly outside-in about it, despite Juhi Chawla.
The ingredients are beautifully Indian... Raw Mango textiles, Tijara Fort, a 90s Bollywood song. The gaze *feels* international. It celebrates the appearance of India without quite capturing the experience of being Indian. It plays more like a luxury fashion film than a Diwali ad rooted in how the festival is actually lived.
Diwali isn’t just an aesthetically pleasing celebration of light. It’s family, rituals, food, noise, neighborhoods, memories, and many small human moments. The film captures India’s visual vocabulary beautifully (which makes sense for a camera demo), but it’s far less interested in its emotional texture.
The contrast with Apple’s Chinese New Year films is striking. 'Three Minutes' (2018), 'Daughter' (2020), 'The Comeback' (2022), 'Little Garlic' (2024) and 'I Made a Mixtape for You' (2025) are built around recognizably Chinese people... relationships, family dynamics, inter-generational tension, etc. The festival isn’t a backdrop, but woven into the story. The iPhone is shown off through the storytelling, not the other way around.
'Mixtape' is the telling illustration. It has the same ingredients as this Diwali film - 90s songs, dance, nostalgia. But they’re built around a young man dodging his family’s marriage questions on his way home for the New Year. Same toolkit, totally opposite result!!
And it isn’t about who’s behind the camera. Several of the China films were directed by Westerners; the Diwali film was directed by an Indian. The gaze probably comes from the brief.
So, China gets 15–20-minute short films. India gets an Instagram reel. YOu could argue that market size explains part of that. But still doesn't explain the difference in curiosity (or the lack of it).
Apple’s Chinese films are interested in what it feels like to be Chinese.
Apple's Indian films are interested in what India looks like, as seen from the outside.
P.S. The song, 'Roop Suhana Lagta Hai', is credited to Anu Malik, but it’s A R Rahman’s uncredited 'Ottagathai Kattiko' from the Tamil original.

1. India has a thriving Punjabi population.
2. India has a thriving Shia Muslim population.
3. Pakistan is not the cradle of Shia Islam.
4. Half of Zohran is Gujarati.
5. Zohran’s politics is Nehruvian.
6. Some Indians disliking him doesn’t change 1-5.
7. Cope more with slurs.🎻

You can’t ethnically be a nationality. But from an objective metric his religion is Shia Islam and he’s a Punjabi. The average Indian is Hindu and non-Punjabi, while Punjabis make a majority in Pakistan and are Muslim. He holds more ethnic and religious similarities to Pakistan.
In India, there are MULTIPLE examples of devout Hindus who married a Christian/Muslim and are still true to their faith (e.g., Kunal Khemu, Vicky Kaushal). I think such coexistence just breaks the very concept of Islam for a Pakistani, which is why it is so hard for you to grasp.

How is it bigotry if you marry within your own faith? Will a devout hindu marry a christian or muslim? A non religious hindu will, just like the non religious Muslims of India marry hindus. Sins in Islam are applicable to Muslims only, so no, his stances are not considered haram.

This may be hard for you, but I never mentioned race. The post and the ones leading up to it were about the H1B abuse. Stop adopting the lies of the left. Not everything is racism.

Have you considered the possibility that you may be part of the “larger problem” that you are asking people to understand?
When someone commits a heinous crime, the first response should be empathy & an attempt to understand the larger problem. Not finding a convenient scapegoat in cinema.
It is becoming increasingly clear that your concern is not for the victims or their families, but that you're using a horrific tragedy as a dirty excuse to settle your personal scores.
This is especially directed at those failed frustrated jobless male/female actors, few directors, producers & parasites, who suddenly appoint themselves as social reformers whenever an opportunity arises to take a dig at someone else's work.
A tragedy deserves empathy 🙏, not opportunism. Learn the difference.
Apart from Priyanka Chopra’s brilliant acting, this scene’s writing, direction, and background music is also phenomenal.
Kashi practically divorces Bajirao here but still holds on to her mangalsutra as she asks him to leave.
