Yesterday, the wonderful @StuartButler2 took over our Instagram account to showcase his favourite photos from his many trips to East Africa.
Here, he’s shared more stunning shots and explored how the Maasai, wildlife and tourism all co-exist together: bit.ly/3e6WxwI

My idea of going to Kenya got put on cold ice almost as soon as I had written the words down. France changed its rules on re-entry to France so can't now go... At least I still have the Pyrenees!

High up in remote valleys of the Himalayas, there exists something so unlikely that it doesn’t seem real. No, not the yeti...but a magical caterpillar-fungus. Intrigued? So were we. @StuartButler2 tells us more. bradtguides.com/yarsagumba-t…

Yes it was taken in Sana'a in about 2009. She was one of a group of Yemeni women I met who had an attitude to traditional Yemeni values that basically is summed up by the words on the card. I hope they're okay there now!
It was certainly a surprise getting a couple of those, and some coffee table books in the post the other day. I bet they're selling loads of them right now...

Well said. Not everyone likes dogs or wants them jumping up at them!
One week into this lockdown here in France and the novelty is fast fading. I really hope someone in Wuhan is starting to get a creeping sense of guilt about their lunch choice!!

Muddy walks? I can't remember where you're researching but in the SW we haven't had a winter. It was 27 degrees at the end of January and has been lovely for weeks.

And yes, I'm on the ground now in Sri Lanka researching for Lonely Planet. Nothing like a hot, sweaty traipse around a bus station trying to work out why none of the bus drivers actually seem to know how much the bus ticket costs...

When the reading public realises then it will be good news for Lonely Planet and for you. I suspect Rough Guides will just fizzle away in the coming years. Shame. I liked them.

Beautiful. I'd love to see some wider angle photos of the sort of setups you're using for your frogs and chameleons.

Correct. Most Rough Guides are now researched via the internet/phone by people somewhere in eastern Europe. New owner apparently doesn't believe in paying people to research...

I thought they weren't poisonous when in captivity so maybe you can make the typing even faster by dropping the word poison and just saying blue frog?!
