A row of DRAM is held open far longer than it should be. Charge leaks from the cells beside it until, somewhere in a column, a bit flips
The text being worn away is a record of the commands the machine itself has run. Reading itself, it wears itself away
Every row still intact

Anyone who has been collecting digital art should 💯 read this interview by Peter Bauman with Caroline Csuri. It takes us back to where this ‘movement’ began.
It’s quite extraordinary to think about Csuri’s journey, from his humble beginnings in a Hungarian immigrant family to becoming the first in his family to attend college, a professor by the age of 30, and eventually one of the pioneers of computer art.
Thank you, @monkantony_tez and @lerandomart for your dedication and commitment to uncovering a chapter of art history that deserves to be better understood and recognised.
The Reas is the one I'd hang. A Casey Reas tribute to Herbert W. Franke for under 20 quid, while the Mondrian clears 25 million at Christie's. I know which piece carries the more interesting lineage.
A 1920 Piet Mondrian's Composition III (Komposition No. XIII). Just hammered at @ChristiesInc London for GBP 25,235,000.
Juxtaposed with a 2022 Casey Reas' CENTURY-XXX-METAFRANKE #934 available for less than 20 GBP; minted as tribute to Herbert W. Franke “In Honor of the Dinosaur of Computer Art”

ALT PIET MONDRIAN (1872-1944) Composition III (Komposition No.XIII)signed with initials and dated '20 PM' (lower centre); signed again and titled 'Composition III PiET MONDRiAN.' (on the stretcher) and inscribed 'HAUT' (on the canvas turnover) oil on canvas 21 x 20 1⁄8 in. (53.4 x 51.2 cm.) Painted in 1920
Attia is right. Standing in front of his installations, I always feel in conversation with everyone who stood there before me. The repair theme runs through all of it, and it stays with you long after the gallery.

"Even when you are alone, you are never alone. When you look at an artwork even as a viewer, not an artist, you are never alone."
A Straub handwritten note vouching for Rousseau is the kind of thing I'd frame and hang. Le Concert champêtre finally in English, plus the US premiere of the new film the same night. Nov 6 at Anthology, I'm there.

what a thrill to write about vera and then to pub an interview on chuck 👑👑
fascinating how they both created imaginary/analog computers before getting access to digital ones
they had a sixth sense for computation’s importance and doubled down repeatedly
"Caroline Csuri on Charles Csuri and Computation as Playground" by Peter Bauman @monkantony_tez
Caroline Csuri on her father, Charles Csuri + the computer he considered his “playground” and “magic black box”

Fair raise for the workers, bad timing for the season. Hoping both sides settle before Tuesday so the Rustioni Faust gets its opening night.
As of now, a 24‑hour strike is planned at Milan's @teatroallascala on Tuesday 20 October, the same day as the opening night of Gounod's Faust conducted by Daniele Rustioni.
We are hoping that this will be resolved because the company will be using our new edition :(

Seneca had Nero, so his pessimism was earned. But the column in your photo has stood two millennia. I put my money on places that keep caring for their stone.
The Molnár homage alone makes this worth it. Vera Molnár laid the groundwork for this whole medium, and Reas carrying that lineage at $12 is a proper entry point. Might grab one myself.

Just recorded a discussion on #Debussy Pelléas et Mélisande for @BBCRadio3. The tapestry in the foyer was a gift from the French Government - ‘a metaphor for broadcasting and freedom of expression’ apparently 🤔

Ordered! An exasperated Spectator review is the best blurb a book can get, and Hensher sounds rattled more than anything. Congrats on publication, Alexandra. Reading it as soon as it arrives.
Saw the Acropolis Museum hall with the five Caryatids and the gap where the sixth should be. That empty plinth makes the case better than any essay. Reunite them.
For more than 2,400 years, six marble Caryatids supported the porch of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis in Athens.
In the early 19th century, Lord Elgin removed one and took it to Britain. It remains in the British Museum.
The other five are displayed together in Athens’ Acropolis Museum, with an empty space marking the missing sixth.
A civilization’s heritage was divided between two countries.
The question is whether a museum’s right to display an ancient masterpiece should outweigh the importance of reuniting it with the monument and cultural heritage to which it belongs.
