First project using the DogeDrop.org Opensource Self-custodial Drag & Drop Dogecoin L1 and DogecoinVM (by @MetallicusTDBN ), wallet 😅
Love wen I actually see the community using a $Doge Project ☺️
The problem:
Small and medium-sized online communities can’t afford to offer AI-powered services like image generation for free. The API costs would quickly become unsustainable.
At the same time, these communities face several limitations:
They can’t realistically require users to purchase subscriptions.
They shouldn’t have to become financial intermediaries or manage user balances.
They can’t charge excessive amounts for individual AI generations.
Traditional payment processors aren’t practical for transactions worth just a few cents.
The solution: Dogecoin! 🐕
We’ve integrated Dogecoin micropayments into our IRC community, SimosNap, to make AI-powered meme generation accessible without subscriptions, accounts with prepaid credits, or traditional payment processors.
Here’s how it works:
Users connect their own self-custodial Dogecoin wallet.
They describe the meme they want to create and select the desired quality.
The system calculates the cost and displays the price in DOGE before proceeding.
Users authorize a direct Dogecoin payment from their wallet.
Our backend automatically verifies the transaction on the Dogecoin blockchain.
Once payment is confirmed, the AI generates the image using OpenAI.
Users can download their meme or share it directly in an IRC channel.
In the demonstration, generating an image costs just 0.61 DOGE (approximately €0.04).
No subscriptions. No prepaid credits. No custodial wallets. No traditional payment gateways.
Just a small, direct Dogecoin payment for the actual service being used.
Software used:
KiwiIRC — Open-source web-based IRC client.
InspIRCd 4 — IRC server.
MediaBot — Our custom IRC bot and backend handling AI generation and payment verification.
DogeWallet / DogeDrop — Self-custodial Dogecoin wallet integration.
Dogecoin blockchain — Direct micropayments and transaction verification.
OpenAI API — AI image generation.
This is an experimental feature we’ve developed for our community, but the concept could be useful for many other small online communities.
I think this is exactly the kind of practical use case Dogecoin was made for: small payments, real services, and no unnecessary financial infrastructure.
Much utility. Such memes. 🐕🚀

Dogecoin Fact: What does @MarshallHayner have to do with #Dogecoin?
Marshall supports Dogecoin since the very beginning
Dogeversary in 2014, @TinaHui covered the event with @BillyM2k, Jackson and others
That’s why he still helps $DOGE, he truly believes in it.

Since around 2021, I’ve been collecting Dogecoin history, both known and lesser-known facts, for a fun, silly, family-friendly book where every fact can be verified. Besides hopefully generating some revenue, my goal is to donate 20% of all profits to charities chosen by the community.

Implementing #DogecoinVM (metaldoge.com by @MetalBlockchain ) as a extension on #DogeGo - Much faster Full Dogecoin Node, that will enable an API for anyone to implement on Point of Sales, Online Stores, Exchanges etc and be able to move $Doge in and out fast from Dogecoin to DogecoinVM ot from DogecoinVM to Dogecoin
Dogecoin Miners like @ViaBTC also starting to see and choose the #DogeGo - Much Faster Full Dogecoin node as a reliable source of Blockchain data😅really happy that seams to pass several tests. Hope this version to be released really soon on Github on DogeGo.org

time is money, right? sending money at milliseconds may solve it, no? only using Dogecoin
First preview of #DogecoinVM that I started as a proof of concept #DogeVM Wallet that will be able to:

- Run on #DogeGo as an extension

Let me try this analogy.
#DogecoinVM could be a viable option?
#DogeOS could be another viable option?
To solve this scenario...👇
🛒You enter a supermarket.
The supermarket implemented #Dogecoin Payments, and you select that option to pay for your groceries.
🧑🤝🧑🛒🧑🤝🧑🛒Now, you have a long line behind you of people also wanting to pay for their groceries.
🪙You pay in Dogecoin and now you will ask yourself this:
Dogecoin L1 = Takes between 1 to 10 minutes for 1 payment confirmation (proved yesterday on my demo that I posted on X)
DogecoinVM = (Locks using Dogecoin L1 OP_CODES your own self-custodial Dogecoin to be used on DogecoinVM, paying only transaction fees ~0.01 DOGE) Takes milliseconds for total confirmation of payment. You can immediately then send the change/remaining $Doge, if you want, to your own self-custodial Dogecoin Wallet on Dogecoin L1, not leaving anything at DogecoinVM L1. As an extra, you use on Dogecoin L1 and on DogecoinVM L1 the same self-custodial Dogecoin Address/Wallet.
@DogeOS = (Not yet sure how it works and how, in this case, to use it as conventional money to pay for things.) maybe @MyDogeCEO and @MyDogeCTO can help me on this. I asked Jordan alredy last week without any response on what should I start as a concept for the Community
I did a proof of concept for #DogecoinVM that everything can be done on the fly, easly, would love to try to make the same using #DogeOS, if it can

JUST IN: Metallicus launches DogecoinVM on Metal Blockchain mainnet
The new layer is designed to speed up Dogecoin ($DOGE) transactions, with settlement reportedly taking 0.15–0.25 seconds and throughput claimed to be up to 300x faster, though deposits are currently capped at 100 DOGE.
Replying to @inevitable360
DogecoinVM is just normal Dogecoin code, similar UTXO model... but it's highly optimized, energy efficient and can be just as decentralized as the PoW version. Eventually there will be thousands of validators that earn DOGE from transaction fees without having to run giant mining operations. You get exact same Dogecoin address and it's more or less plug and play for Dogecoin wallets and apps.
As far as I know DogeOS is like Ethereum but it uses DOGE as the gas token and you can deploy smart contracts like you would in the Ethereum world.
Both require a bridge of some description.
SuchDEX retweeted
Fintech firm Metallicus has launched an alpha version of DogecoinVM on Metal Blockchain mainnet, which it says makes @dogecoin ($DOGE) transactions up to 300 times faster.
Metallicus says the speed gain requires no change to Dogecoin Core.

This is the version of the Dogecoin story worth quoting. Core stays Core. DogecoinVM is a separate lane that keeps the same UTXO model and D-addresses, then settles in about 0.2 seconds once DOGE is on it.
Not a rewrite. Not a new coin. A faster environment you can bridge into and bridge back out of. Same dog, built for payments instead of waiting on the next block.

Five years ago, @elonmusk challenged the Dogecoin community to make it 10x faster, increase block size 10x, and cut fees 100x. It didn’t look possible on the existing proof-of-work stack. At the same time, at @MetallicusTDBN and @MetalBlockchain, we had begun the work of building blockchain technology to integrate into banks, credit unions, and financial services. I could see where the future was headed, and the vision was clear.
It took a few years. We didn’t just make it 10x faster. We made it 300x faster. Throughput no longer depends on block size, and fees are fully customizable.
This isn’t Dogecoin Core. It’s a separate payment layer that keeps the same UTXO model as Dogecoin and Bitcoin, under a proof-of-stake consensus called Snowman. Built for X, and for any fintech that wants to scale Dogecoin and Bitcoin.
And we’re not finished. We opened the door. On the other side is the blockchainification of finance as we know it.

👀 A FASTER DOGE LAYER IS LIVE IN ALPHA
Metallicus launched DogecoinVM on Metal Blockchain, with settlement in 0.15 to 0.25 seconds, up to 300x faster by its own claim.
CEO Marshall Hayner framed it as a response to Elon Musk's call for faster DOGE transactions.
It's independent from Dogecoin Core, with deposits capped at 100 DOGE.

All great questions! From what I understand, here would be my answers:
1. Mostly yes. Metal Blockchain is a fork of Avalanche and uses Avalanche’s Snowman consensus. DogecoinVM is a virtual machine (and dedicated L1) on Metal that runs Dogecoin’s UTXO rules, addresses, keys, and script engine under Snowman instead of proof of work. The EVM comparison is directionally right but not exact: an EVM is an account-based smart-contract machine, while DogecoinVM is a Dogecoin-style UTXO ledger, not a general smart-contract platform.
2. The $DOGE on DogecoinVM comes from the original Dogecoin chain through a two-way peg, not as a full mirror of the chain. You send DOGE to a peg address on Dogecoin; after confirmations (about 20 in the current setup), an equivalent amount is credited from a reserve on DogecoinVM. To leave, you pay $DOGE back into the reserve on DogecoinVM and the bridge releases the locked coins on Dogecoin. A completed mainnet round trip has already been published. Only the bridged amount exists on DogecoinVM; the rest of Dogecoin’s history stays on Dogecoin.
3. It does not change Dogecoin’s proof-of-work system. Dogecoin Core continues as it does today. Metal and DogecoinVM use Snowman consensus (Avalanche-family, proof-of-stake style, with validators staking METAL). Security of the payment layer is separate from Dogecoin mining.
4. The main risks are those of an unaudited alpha bridge. The project states the code has not been externally audited, bugs could lose or freeze funds, and the bridge can be paused. The peg is federated: signers can move the locked $DOGE, and during alpha one operator still holds the signing keys, so users are trusting that operator. Caps limit exposure (on the order of 100 DOGE per deposit and a few thousand DOGE total circulating). There is no insurance. Keys in the web wallet or Mac app stay on the user’s device and are unrecoverable if lost.
5. On-chain finality is in a similar speed class to Solana’s block time, and faster than Solana’s typical confirmation window. DogecoinVM payments are described as final in about 0.15–0.25 seconds once on the L1. Moving coins on or off still waits for Dogecoin confirmations (roughly 20 minutes at the current depth). Fees follow a Dogecoin Core 1.14-style policy (minimum relay about 0.001 $DOGE per kB, with dust rules); the broader claim is that fees are customizable and no longer tied to Dogecoin block-size limits. Solana fees are usually a fraction of a cent, so both are cheap for payments, with different trust and finality models.
6. Everyday use is still limited to the alpha tools. The live site is metaldoge.com, which offers a web wallet and a Mac app that keep the key on the device, plus JSON-RPC. A wallet that already supports Dogecoin can in principle talk to the L1 with the same keys and D-addresses, but the network must be unmistakable because addresses look identical on both chains. Major phone wallets and exchanges do not yet ship DogecoinVM as a standard feature. But @BuildrJ of @MyDoge has expressed interest in talking to the Metallicus team.
7. Not as a direct swap. DogeOS’s EVM path is aimed at account-based smart contracts and Ethereum-style tooling. DogecoinVM is aimed at Dogecoin-native UTXO payments with the same script rules and keys. Whether a change is worth it depends on whether the product needs fast Dogecoin payments more than EVM apps; the two can coexist, and DogecoinVM is still in capped beta.
I’d love the chance to host a AMA space with @MarshallHayner or @MetallicusTDBN team member on their new tech for the Dogecoin community.

Five years ago Elon set the bar: 10x faster, 10x the block size, fees down 100x, and Doge wins hands down.
Most people treated that as a meme. This is the reply.
Not a Dogecoin Core fork. A separate payment layer that keeps the same UTXO model as Doge and Bitcoin, runs Snowman proof-of-stake, and claims 300x the speed with fees you can actually set. Throughput no longer hangs on block size. Alpha is live on mainnet.
Same dog. New beat. The interesting part is what sits on the other side of that door.

This is the kind of demo that makes DogecoinVM feel real. Sending DOGE from DogecoinVM back to native Dogecoin L1, same addresses, verifiable on both sides. The native chain still takes minutes for a confirmation. The VM is built to take that wait out of the payment. Beta, not audited, and already showing the lane. Love seeing it tested in the open.
Sending Dogecoin Back from #DogecoinVM L1 to #Dogecoin L1
almost 10 minutes on mempool on Dogecoin mainnet L1 😭 ironically I exactly catched the 2 biggest problems on confirmations on Dogecoin L1 that potentially @MetalBlockchain #DogecoinVM have solved
I think #DogecoinVM should be security audited as soon as possible to actually see this being used on real stores. I simply love it so far on beta not audited.
