SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS PHARMACY EXECUTIVES, BUT I’M DONE. I just went to pick up a basic $15 generic prescription at the drive-thru. The register rang it up as $85. When I asked why the price jumped 5x, the pharmacist looked at me and whispered: "That’s your health insurance copay price. If you pay cash without using your insurance card, it’s $12." ABSOLUTELY NOT. You inflated the cost by 600%, hid the real cash price behind an insurance system, and tried to force me to pay MORE just because I carry health coverage? If I’m paying monthly insurance premiums, my prescription should be cheaper, not a markup scheme for corporate middlemen.

The US version of health insurance isn’t “insurance.” It’s a prepaid health payment plan. Which simply makes it so routine care is paid for by third parties. Imagine if you ran all your routine home maintenance through your homeowners insurance. That leaky faucet would be five times more expensive than if you just paid cash. Why? The plumber wouldn’t just be able to charge you at the point of sale. He’d need to employ a whole billing department. Since someone else was paying, he wouldn’t even bother showing you the price. You’d shop purely on non-price factors, like show nice his website is and how shiny his truck is. So his prices would gradually creep up. Why not? Someone else is paying. Which means now you’d need prior authorization to get the faucet fixed. The plumber might try to say you need a fancy new faucet with touchless controls and a built in purifier. Insurance says you can only have one of those old turn handle ones where hot and cold have separate nozzles. They only care about cost and not quality (except it being good enough to avoid an other leaky faucet soon). You care about quality but not cost. Just getting a leaky faucet repaired has now become an expensive, bureaucratic nightmare. Of course, if you suggest people pay cash for leaky faucets there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. “Do you even know how much a plumber is these days? A leaky faucet costs $300,000!“ And, obviously, someone would bring up the fact that you can’t negotiate with a plumber if there is a burst pipe at 2am on christmas day and your house is being flooded. So how could you ever expect people to shop for plumbers. Thats just ridiculous. Also, if you dont make someone else pay to have that leaky faucet fixed, there might be water damage in the future and it will cost MORE to fix. So we should just fund all plumbers through the government. Running water is a right, after all. There certainly won’t be any difficulty getting a plumber once they all have to get government approval to do anything to fix your house, right? Anyone will be able to get a plumber at any time and they’ll do all the things necessary to keep your house working perfectly. If it sounds stupid for plumbers it sounds stupid for doctors, too.
Not to sound rude, but I don’t think people understand what insurance is. Its core purpose is to protect against financial risk. Using it as a third party payer for every routine expense adds administration, billing costs and overhead. We still pay for all of that. Running a bill through an insurance company does not automatically make the care cheaper. It’s why cash will always be cheaper.

please read this piece, it was so good. it’s about dei officers in the federal government being cleaned out and many being unable to find new jobs because they were put on “dei watchlists” that come up in google searches in the exact same way it did for right wingers who had their lives ruined by journalists. then he starts applying for dei jobs in the private sector but can’t get one because no one wants to hire someone with dei shit all over their resume. then they find a conservative activist and ask him if he’s happy with all of this and his response is “these people are all anti-white, of course I’m glad they can’t find jobs.” washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

"You see this? It means WALKABLE CITIES"
Bike Lanes Are White Lanes seems like a great book. I just ordered one! It’s about the racist impacts of urban planning for bike infrastructure, and how affluent white bike bros turned something seemingly good into a weapon for gentrification and displacement. The author is even a cyclist who supports bike infrastructure.

Humanitarian immigration is far less efficient than colonization. The vast majority of Somalis would be better off if Somalia were a US colony, rather than us unfairly choosing people to come to the US. That's actually how you help the most people and people with the least means.
Do conservatives not get that there’s a difference between economic and humanitarian immigration? Are they not well read? Do they not know that helping refugees is morally good, and also that your entire way of life is dependent upon (mainly Hispanic) migrant workers?

The Left has arrived at the consensus that competing against them in elections is 'subverting democracy.' nitter.gq/BeshearStan/status/211…
if Lula wins after all this bullshit, then he needs to go ballistic on Bolsonaro and his allies who tried subverting democracy against him

public schools are just a smol bean, with modest goals like "consume $4 billion in taxpayer money", "funneling it through a union to launder it into campaign contributions" and "failing to educate the kids" I think it's very very mean of @KellyAyotte to pick on them
🧵TODAY: NH Democrats launched the Costly Kelly is Screwing You tour in Lebanon, where local leaders highlighted how Kelly Ayotte has screwed over NH public schools and teachers thanks to her property-tax hiking school voucher scheme. #NHPolitics

Everyone is Bi. You just have to figure out if it's polar or smarck.
One of Bismarck’s trademark habits was to openly weep and wail and threaten to resign, harm or kill himself when he was not getting his way with the Kaiser. He would genuinely throw tantrums and cry and on one such occasion walked up to an open window and threatened to jump.
