🎂 11 YEARS 🎂 On this day 11 years ago, Caversham United Football Club was formed. Back then, Caversham United was a one team football club and that team was the worst Sunday League side in Reading, by virtue finishing bottom of the bottom division. Since then, things have changed. The club has grown both on and off the pitch, and will be home to over 150 adult players next season. The Goats have become a brand, with replica shirts in over 30 countries worldwide. We’ve raised over £15,000 for charitable causes. And we’ve had a Premier League striker and a Women’s Super League winner among our player ranks. 11 years - done. And as we head towards year number 12, it’ll be back to the Year of the Goat. 🐐

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the Billy Goats out there! In case you were wondering, today’s graphic features one of the best around - Matias our graphics guy - and his son Felipe! Dads - you’re all GOATS! 💙

MATCH RESULT FC Woodley 6 CAVERSHAM UNITED SUNDAY RES. 1 J. Smith ⚽️ A 6-1 defeat. Not good on paper. However, there’s more to this story and the we are proud of the lads today. Missing our goalkeeper (injured), manager and assistant (both away), and a lot of the regular squad; playing away to a team who are certain to be promoted and have beaten our Firsts this season - it felt like an impossible task. In truth, taking the fine and an 0-3 forfeit defeat seemed like a good option. And again, on paper it would have technically worked out better. But thats not what grassroots football is about. Grassroots is about people playing to enjoyment, for fitness, for the social interaction, for being with mates. So yes, we played the game. Yes, we lost by 5. But playing with a depleted squad, and 10 men for part of the game due to further injuries, the boys battled hard and worked for each other. At 1-1, we even let Woodley know we were here for a game. That’s what grassroots football is about. Thanks to @FCWOODLEY2010 for the game and good luck as you progress up the league. #WeAreUnited

MATCH RESULT CAVERSHAM UNITED SUNDAY FIRSTS 1 The Prince Tilehurst 2 T. Elmore ⚽️ Up against a team who had only dropped 2 points all season, we knew we would be in for a battle today. The boys rose to that challenge though, and gave the visitors a real game! Unfortunately a late penalty separated the teams at the final whistle, but overall a promising and resolute display from a Cav team featuring a couple of new signings and a long term absentee on return! We’ll meet The Prince again in two weeks. Looking forward to it! #WeAreUnited
