Governor DeSantis says renters will benefit from voting YES on Amendment 3 because they will be able to afford to buy a house.
“I think most people that rent aspire to be homeowners. This will make homeownership more affordable for people, because they'll have one less thing they have to worry about to pay taxes at current level, they'll get a break. So I think it makes it more affordable.
And the reason why that's important is, I think about when my wife and I got married back in 2009, the one thing that was beneficial about getting married that year is when we went to buy our first house, the market was in the tank, and we got a very cheap deal, and that was good. We were in our 20s at the time. Now the average price for a first-time homebuyer is 41 in the United States of America.
So these young people in their 20s, they're not even sniffing homeownership at this point. That is not a good recipe for this society and for this culture.“
