@AngryJoeShow it's not "as long as you can punch a reporter". The punching of the reporter is an example that shows the mentality of the developers behind the project. The reason same-sex romance options were there wasn't for the politically obsessed brainrot BS we have today. It wasn't for activism, it wasn't for owning any chuds, it wasn't for "AHHHH RePrEsEnTaTiOn!!!" or DiVeRsItY... It was just a fucking option in an RPG made by people whose #1 concern was making a good ass sci-fi RPG. The character was built out of REAL personality traits, history, goals, etc. Their sexual proclivities were on the bottom of the list. Just as it is for any sane people in real life. Who people fuck shouldn't be their entire personalities, makes sense doesn't it? Well not for people like Sarkeesian and all the other activists at GDC presenting shit like this (screenshot attached below) First and foremost, devs were gamers who understood what gamers want to be able to see and do in an RPG or game in general. AND, very important -> People who understood that games are fiction. Not a fucking vehicle for Social Impact. (look it up if you're uninformed on the term and its prominence these days in big AAA studios) Punching a hoe is what I mentioned solely because it's the type of thing you'd see get a lot of scrutiny in this overly sensitive, overly-politically-correct climate we have now. It's the kind of thing they call "problematic" especially in the context and framing in the game. Another example is the sexy chicks. People like you crash tf out over it, activists too. You guys like to pull the "omg porn addled gooners" bullshit... here's a newsflash Joe. Nobody is gonna crank it to a cleavage in a videogame when pornhub is a fucking bookmark away. The reason people like me bring that up in the first place is precisely because it makes activists crash out. So it's like another little detail that helps as a litmus test for me to figure out whether a game is being made because it's truly creatively free, or if it's comprimised by retarded activists who want to use the game's characters to challenge societal standards (like for example those of beauty). Also you really just do yourself a disservice in even bringing up "camps" to begin with. I'm not giving you a fucking political opinion from "my camp". I'm telling you what the fuck happened. These games made money back then and people had no issues with them because there was no retarded activism or far left ideology behind them, mfs didn't even think about same-sex romance characters if they didn't want to, it didn't matter... All this "woke" shit that far-left groups infected gaming and society in general with was not there. Now it's unavoidable to the point where it even goes in reverse- where for example if some people see a game where you can just punch a hoe, they may claim the game as one that "supports their side", that the devs are making it as some sort of message that is pro-... fuck, idk... Pro-Chud or whatever you want to call it. Pro-Fascist I guess since you're retarded enough to think that's what everyone else is who doesn't buy all the far-left slop you're guzzling. And yes, I don't like that. Because I don't want videogames to be in a constant struggle session between people who want them to represent them politically through its contents - however, that doesn't change 2 things: #1 - Punching a hoe isn't political, its just being viewed that way the same way Sarkeesian and other consultants declared that sexy outfits were some dangerous problematic far-right patriarchal device for holding women and society back IRL lol. I know YOU yourself didn't create shit, you just defend it lol) Oh it may very well be a decade until we see normalcy in "Western AAA Gaming" again - where a game is just a game. Where shit gets added because it's either cool or immersive rather than because some Karen or Kyle in sensitivity reading was hired at $100 an hour to tell them to do so. And if in the meantime we're not seing same-sex romances at all because of companies being afraid of losing money, it just is what it is. Shouldn't have done it. Games were fine, dude. We had actual natural diversity of characters and despite some fumbles here and there, the focus of storytelling, worldbuilding and characters was where it should be. We never needed all this sensitivity bullshit, we didn't need all the eggshells, we didn't need the forced diversity quotas, we didn't need the man-hate, we didn't need the cope that "women are underrepresented" when this was obviously a hobby that is naturally skewed more towards men same as many others are naturally skewed towards women.
