I’ve proudly stood shoulder to shoulder with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities for decades. From the earliest Pride parades, through the AIDS crisis, winning same-sex marriage, and much more. I continue to stand with you today in the face of hate.

Artscape has been vital community and public infrastructure. This news is heart-breaking. We need more community that builds connections not less, we need more artists to have a place to tell Toronto’s marvelous stories. ☹️
.@Artscape, the Toronto non-profit arts organization that leases spaces to artists and runs residencies, has announced it can no longer make its debt payments and is entering receivership. Artscape will soon stop managing the spaces, according to an announcement posted Monday.

Don’t totally know what this means to its many arts, culture and community tenants, but definitely not good news that Artscape is being placed into receivership and will need to wind-down management of its spaces. Ugh.

#ArtsDayTO today! The arts make a huge difference to the livability of this City. Toronto residents understand this. Toronto is a wonderful city, but a very expensive one to create, exhibit and perform in.
What is #ArtsDayTO? It is a day to ask for greater investment in the arts. @CityofToronto
supports festivals and organizations, but thousands of artists have lost their jobs and are
leaving this expensive city. #AffordableHousing @TorontoArts @TOArtsFdn @BusinessftArts
