The reason I like liturgy isn’t because I love aesthetics and it’s not primarily because I love Church History. It’s because, in my heart, I’m a catechist. The liturgy is one of the greatest discipleship tools that exists.
Learning that liturgy teaches theology is crazy tbh. I feel like as a non denom or even many very low church you don't see it (its my background relax). My Reformed baptists even get this bro.

On the anniversary of the death of Laurentius Petri, here are some excerpts from his 1571 Church Order. “Nor shall anyone who has been called, interrogated, and examined for the office of preacher take that office before he has been publicly, before the congregation, confirmed in and appointed to the office through the laying on of hands and prayer. Since the Holy Spirit, without whom this office in no way can be performed, is accustomed to be given through such means, it would be extremely deadly if anyone would despise it, especially since it has been so used by everyone from the time of the Apostles and so has become customary in Christendom. For a public minister of the Church does not have a legitimate right to public ministry because he has received the laying on of hands from such and such a person, but because he has been chosen to that office either directly by God or indirectly through the Church, and administers it correctly. For since the power of choosing belongs to the Church after God, whatever she does to choose a minister is always legitimate and valid from whichever priest or bishop the candidate elect ones may later receive the laying on of hands, but only if he is faithful and Christian. For the Church is not bound to admit against his will whom the Bishop ordains, but the Bishop is bound to ordain whom the Church chooses. The Church may entrust the power of electing ministers to the bishop or his officials, as is now generally the case. Nevertheless, if that same Bishop, having received the power from the Church, abuses it, he becomes a wolf, that is, a false teacher, a usurer, a simoniac, a whoremonger, etc. (such as the papist bishops for the most part now ordain) instead of a suitable and salutary minister, then the Church, having received her legitimate power, can, nay, must, cast such a scoundrel, just as one would say a blot and a plague, from office, and then substitute another chosen in the place of the castaway whom she herself has found suitable.”

On this 21st Sunday after Trinity we were happy to have the sometime-bishop of Visby, the Right Rev. Biörn Fjärstedt, a regular in the congregation, preside over our High Mass and deliver the sermon, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Left is from the ICKSP:s Instagram. Right is from Latin Mass UK:s twitter: Is there like, a theological or liturgical point to the lace and the flimsy chasubles or can the ICKSP wear vestments more like other trads and just chose not to because of a difference of style?

In your charity, pray for the Bishop of Rome.
Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

Any good resources on the history and thought of Anglo-Catholic Socialism, especially early 20th century? Yelton mentions it in his books but hardly anything comprehensive.

Sinclair Ferguson with a needed reminder that Paul *commands* us to sing Psalms. He references Ephesians 5 and asks the question: "what did Paul say the first sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit is?" and then: "what if [Paul] did mean singing Psalms?" "When you're filled with the Spirit, sing Psalms."

The Reformed Church in Copenhagen, Denmark, was built at the request of Queen Charlotte Amalie in 1689 so that she could profess and practice her Reformed faith in her new country. Though she was German, it was also home to many French Calvinists.

Ramsay MacDonald was Britain's first Labour PM and a member of the Fabian Society. He famously led the effort to defeat a republican motion at the 1923 Labour conference. Clement Attlee, quite literally the British personification of socialism, was a committed monarchist.

Melanchthon teaches (CA XXII) that Matt 26:27 and 1 Cor 11:27 amounts to a precept or command of Christ to distribute both kinds to the laity. This is the crux of the debate. I thank @sincead33 who provides helpful clarity on this issue from the Roman Catholic perspective.
Please read Bishop Olson's Pastoral Letter on the Distribution of Communion Under Both Species.

Sweden is witnessing a striking Christian resurgence among young people, with the share attending religious services doubling from 17% in 2020 to 34% in 2024, belief in God rising from 20% to 34%, and Jesus emerging as a major “influencer” and youth trend for 2025. The Church of Sweden reported that confirmations rose for the third consecutive year in 2025, while baptisms connected to confirmation contributed to membership growth. Nearly 18,000 people had actively joined the Church of Sweden by November 2025, compared with around 14,000 during all of 2024 and only roughly 5,000–6,000 annually in the late 2000s. Christian youth gatherings are also drawing significant crowds, with one “Jesus Conference” growing to more than 3,000 attendees. After decades of declining institutional Christianity in one of Europe’s most secular societies, multiple indicators now point to renewed religious interest among Sweden’s younger generation.

Today the Church remembers the work and witness of the great St. Jerome, a holy priest, latinist, translator and expositor of Holy Scripture. He has recently become one of my favourite saints. Here he is in a rugged cardinal’s hat at Vadstena Abbey:

Is there anything comparable to the modern Roman Catholic canonisation process in other churches? Afaik the Eastern churches and some Anglicans and Lutherans have more “organic” ways of beatification, but nothing general or universal in practice.
Has anyone made it to blessed but been disqualified before recognition as a Saint? Thinking probably so, genuinely curious
