We’re in an 8 storey block with one small lift which was out of order for most of Nov, & now again.
Those with mobility issues or young children are trapped - missing hospital appointments, deliveries won’t deliver.
The rest of us beyond exhausted by all this from

Remember the West Hendon feature on the BBC Victoria Derbyshire show, whose children were living with cockroach infestations, & damp? Add rats to the story. Why are @barnettories tenants left to live in such squalor?
Well within about two hours of having put the glue trap down this is what we have so far 🤮😩😭😢 doubt I’ll be sleeping again tonight! @BarnetCouncil @BarnetHaction @BarnetHomes @HendonLabour @Westhendonnw9 @AAPrager @3highwarden @Offord4Hendon @OurWestHendon 😒

Rodents in your Children’s chest of drawers, on your kitchen sides and coming in through the cracks of an unsafe building? (Lps with gas)
This mother is one of Barnet’s unsecure tenants and still waiting to be rehoused by @BarnetHomes.

Arrears have tripled during the pandemic. Millions are in rent debt. They're terrified of losing their homes.
The govt promised no one would be homeless due to Covid. So make the eviction ban permanent @BorisJohnson!

YMCA tried to illegally evict an LRU member. CEO promised to find alternative housing, but staff are pressuring our member to leave without a suitable offer!
Does @YMCAEng_Wales know how @YMCA_NL are treating tenants?
CEO John Baxter, will you meet with us to fix this mess?

.@YMCA_NL & @YMCAEng_Wales plan to evict a LRU member on Monday.
PLEASE RT to tell the YMCA: If you try to evict, you're breaking the law
Our member has a tenancy, YMCA has no possession order & the gov has paused evictions. YMCA know this: we emailed them (they've not replied)
At a time like this! @YMCA_NL

Thank so much to all those who shared our twitter thread so far, & for all the kindness, help & support which has come our way in the last week or so.
We have now managed to secure a meeting with the CEO of Metropolitan Housing.
Will keep you posted....

Back in 2017, in the wake of the #Grenfell tragedy our block was identified to have flammable #cladding
@MetTVH said at the time: “We plan to install a new quality, modern cladding on the building ....as soon as possible.”

How can you leave people in these conditions!!
Shame on @MetTVH
Please ask again your CEO, Geeta Nanda to accept the invitation to meet with residents. Bet she couldn’t live in the conditions that these tenants are enduring.

“The story of @Westhendonnw9 is not the story of regeneration. It is the story of a war on the poor, the destruction of a community, of public land given away for private profit. Don't be fooled. And please: don't vote for Barnet Tories, as MPs, or councillors, ever again.”
Barnet Tories, 2019, Slum landlords, as revealed by a BBC investigation: 'West Hendon: they call this 'Regeneration' - and: 'Relative Poverty', the Barnet Tory definition': new post:
