So basically what everyone feared would happen is happening.
Russian forces have begun taking civilians from occupied Oleshky to Russia, apparently disregarding previously announced agreements governing the operation. The operations are being conducted by the Russian military, without American representatives or teams from either side’s ombudsman office present. Russia’s state news agency TASS is openly filming the operation. There is no indication that civilians are being given a choice of where they wish to go. No buses or other vehicles designated to transport evacuees to Ukrainian-controlled territory are visible. The operation raises serious concerns that Russia is once again exploiting a humanitarian evacuation to forcibly transfer Ukrainian civilians. The parallels with the evacuation of Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant are disturbing. Once again, Moscow appears to be disregarding agreed procedures while controlling the fate of Ukrainian civilians.

Vladimir Putin has shut down Russia’s last independent newspaper. The Russian president has ordered the closure of Novaya Gazeta after 33 years. It had previously been placed on a state enemies list. The newspaper, which is known for its critical coverage of Russian political and social affairs, has been classed as a “foreign agent” by Moscow. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

The Trump administration is pressuring Lithuania to open the port of Klaipėda for the transshipment of potash fertilizers from Belarus—despite existing EU sanctions. This is reported by *Politico*. ▪️ The Trump administration is urging Lithuania to open one of its key Baltic Sea ports for the export of potash fertilizers from Belarus, disregarding European sanctions. The U.S. aims to reduce its reliance on Canada for this essential fertilizer component and lower costs for American farmers. ▪️ According to four European officials, John Cole, the U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus, has spent the last few weeks sounding out Lithuanian diplomats on whether the blockade on Belarusian goods could be eased. This blockade is part of broader European sanctions against the government of self-proclaimed president Lukashenko. ▪️ The collapse of trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada in August, combined with new rounds of reciprocal tariffs, has prompted the U.S. administration to seek potash fertilizer supplies from Belarus—a country that controls approximately 20% of the global market. This comes against the backdrop of Trump’s efforts to ease sanctions on Russia and its allies, in the hope of persuading Moscow to end the war in Ukraine. These plans are meeting with significant resistance in Europe. “They are applying polite pressure, but our answer is clear: ‘Absolutely not!’” “If the Americans cannot learn from history, then we must stand firm,” an Eastern European official told the outlet. ▪️ Two Eastern European officials stated that Cole has been exerting pressure at all levels of the Lithuanian government for over a year—ever since the U.S. envoy’s first visit to Minsk. ▪️ Another Eastern European official noted that the U.S. has long been discussing whether Belarusian potash could reach the global market via Klaipėda or other Baltic Sea ports—such as Riga, the capital of Latvia. This would offer a more straightforward transport route than the one passing through Russia. One of the European officials confirmed that Cole has also approached his Latvian counterparts regarding this matter.

It’s interesting that Trump is especially interested in rigging the election in Alaska. At exactly the moment when he is trying to give Alaska’s natural resources to Russia. nytimes.com/2026/10/27/us/al…

Showering Russia with offers of “deals” as it attacks civilians in Ukraine advances no US interest or value that I can see.

There are at least 11 separate fires at the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery. Our pleas have been heard, and now they’ve started to take out the entire refinery in a single strike, rather than just one unit.

Remember the diesel deal Trump made with Putin? Well, the diesel isn't coming to the US because importing Russian fuel has been illegal since 2022. Yet, the US paid for it anyway. The art of the deal, baby.

The Russian national ice hockey team is returning to international competition. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the appeal filed by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and lifted the suspension of the national team. As a result, the Russian national team—hailing from a nation of war criminals and mass murderers—will be eligible to participate in the 2027 World Championship in Germany.

The root cause of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is Putin. Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 without being provoked and without any threat to Russia from Ukraine or NATO.

We are facing a crisis of impunity. That's why we built The Rule of Law Project — to investigate unlawful conduct by federal officials, and work with state and local prosecutors to hold them to account. Watch former DOJ prosecutor Mark Blumberg and human rights leader Brad Adams launch this critical accountability initiative on MSNOW with Nicolle Wallace.

“Kushner told Zelensky that he should pause the strikes because he and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff were dedicating a lot of time, energy, and jet fuel to mediating with Moscow, one of the U.S. officials said. A 30-day pause on refineries would be a way for Ukraine to show gratitude, that U.S. official said.” An almost comical thing to tell a nation fighting for its existence. So, Russia is working with the Houthis to target Saudi oil infrastructure and drive up world oil prices to help the Russian economy. And Trump is not helping the Saudis defend while also threatening to escalate his war--which also increases price of oil. It all helps Russia--funny that. understandingwar.org/researc…

Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, Russia. I take it that yesterday’s latest Russian mass killing of civilians in Ukraine has finally put an end to the idiocy of “don’t strike Russia’s oil industry to show your profound gratitude to Donald Trump.”
