Thank you @ElonMusk! Just when I was starting to think I'd be in Twitter Purgatory up until the Last Judgment, @Twitter has reinstated my account. The kafkaesque operatives running Twitter "moderation" before Elon's takeover wouldn't even say why I was suspended. Good riddance!

Tomorrow, Australia joins a global strike against war. On Friday, Australia’s Maritime Workers Union (MUA) in Melbourne will join dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents who will stop work in a coordinated strike against war. ▪️More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, in over 200 ports from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. ▪️Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports — without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. ▪️The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. ▪️They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. ▪️Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. ▪️The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying: “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching-pads for war.”
NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions. More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety. The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties. The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.” I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

UK PM John Major personally vouched that there would be no NATO expansion East of Germany: "NOTHING OF THE SORT WILL HAPPEN" he told the Russians. Here is the evidence: "As late as March 1991, according to the diary of the British ambassador to Moscow, British Prime Minister John Major personally assured Gorbachev, “We are not talking about the strengthening of NATO.” Subsequently, when Soviet defense minister Marshal Dmitri Yazov asked Major about East European leaders’ interest in NATO membership, the British leader responded, “Nothing of the sort will happen."

The stupid and cruel war against Iran - a war foisted on the USA by the criminal Israeli regime - is eroding the prosperity of Australians. Our media doesn't report this honestly, to obscure the complicity of our political elite. If @albomp cared about us he'd DEMAND Trump stops fighting a war he can't win.

They are finally starting to come clean — the billions being spent by the Defence Department are being spent to defend America! 💥 ADF wants new $10-billion missiles in order to protect US military bases and other defence facilities in Australia … … instead of protecting Australian citizens. And mainstream defence analysts are finally starting to wise up. 👇 (And while you are here, why not follow these important sites: @WarPowersReform @WagePeaceAU @IPAusNet @MAPW_Australia @BaseWatchAU @DeclassifiedAus @LaborAgainstWar
Missile defence: Australia’s military’s $10bn plan to protect itself but leave the rest of us exposed. It's ridiculous to have to remind the Australian Defence Force it's not the Self Defence Force.  Its purpose is to protect Australians, not just itself strategicanalysis.org/missil…

The Australian Greens have had some inspiring leaders - especially @AdamBandt. But @DavidShoebridge may be the first leader to really look like a plausible Prime Minister. In a 4-way debate between ALP, COALition, One Nation and Greens leaders, Shoebridge would win hands down.
David Shoebridge doesn’t hold back after Defence Chief Mark Hammond says Senators are smiling at his claim that the dept. of Defence is a ‘doormat to the US’ “That’s because they also have the same policy position about being a doormat to the US. That’s why they’re smiling!”🔥

There has been virtually no positive coverage from mainstream journalists or political commentators on David Shoebridge's brilliant address at the NPC today. Pauline Hanson's address generated a massive, saturation-level media blitz. Why is that? #auspol iview.abc.net.au/video/NC261…

With full support from the COALition and Gina Rinehart's "One Nation", @AustralianLabor is turning Australia into a nuclear target. This is when politics really matter. As things stand, only The @Greens can stop Australia's slide into becoming a disposable US/Israeli colony.

Foreign defence forces and weapons companies to be given power to override Australian laws ritajabrimarkwell.substack.c… "Defence Minister Richard Marles introduced new legislation to Parliament yesterday that will allow Australian and foreign forces to override existing State and Territory laws It also allows the Minister to declare new ‘defence areas’ and ‘defence security zones’" ___________________________________ "No matter how bad you believe the government is - it is actually 10 times worse" From memory: a quote from a 1950s science fiction story - I read in the seventies

Yes. I-SEC (ICTS subsidiary, Israeli origins) holds Renfe contracts for physical security on trains, stations and workshops across regions. Cylus, an Israeli rail cybersecurity firm, partners with Alstom (key Renfe train supplier/maintainer) and has the former Adif president on its advisory board. IAI/ELTA’s NIART obstacle-detection system was tested with Alstom. No direct Renfe contracts for core signaling or train control confirmed.

HUSIC IS ONE OF THE FEW VOICES IN LABOR WORTH LISTENING TO!
Ed Husic warns not to expect a “kinder, gentler” Israel if Netanyahu is thrown out of power, reminding that Gadi Eisenkot has also led campaigns to kill Palestinians, has “refused to criticise the viciousness” of Netanyahu & has even served in his war cabinet after Oct7. ffs.

It's time for Australia to revoke its recognition of 'Israel'. That recognition was obtained by deception, with Australian Foreign Minister Evatt conned into believing there would also be a Palestinian State and Jerusalem would be under international control. (I'd normally reply to the AJA's noxious tweet, but needless to say the cowardly ethno-supremacists have me blocked). @SenatorWong

Victorian Liberal leader Jess Wilson wants to restrict Victorians' right to protest. Melbourne has seen significant public opposition to Israel's genocide in Gaza over the last three years. But Wilson demonised anti-genocide protesters as "extremists" and framed the peaceful protests as "violent".
