The first day of training for our Dr. Ahmad at a veterinary hospital in Istanbu. Our desire is acquiring new skills and techniques to improve the care provided in Syria to animals that have lived through war, deprivation, and a lack of medical treatment.

We are sorry to bring you sad news. Our beautiful Domino has passed over to the rainbow bridge. Coming so soon after Miss Storky, we are devastated. Domino was an unforgettable face. He guarded the fountain near the door of Ernestos, where he was sure to greet every member of the team and receive lots of love and chin scratches every day. He had become lethargic recently and on examination it was found that he had liver problems. Despite our very best care, we were unable to save him. We will always remember our beautiful Guardian of the Fountain. Fly to the bridge dear Domino. Find the other Ernestos cats and take our love with you.

Meow friends! Do you know why I’m smiling? I just overheard my human servants saying that we’re very close to reaching our fundraising goal—the funds needed to buy firewood for the stoves that keep me, and all my four-legged brothers and sisters, safe and warm. I’ve bet 3 sardines that we’ll hit our target within 48 hours... will you help me win the bet? justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… ernestosanctuary.org/donatio…

We are very close to reaching the targets needed to keep our residents warm and fed in the colder months. justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… Thank you. Ps , we want to thank so much also @KazeraGlobalInv for their support and donation that helped us a lot this month to help and keep warm our animals.

We are sad to have to tell you all, that Miss Storky, our beautiful and single minded stork passed away last night. She came to us in December 2022. She had been caught and had her flight feathers removed and became a toy for some children. We bought her for $14. Our intention was to keep her until her feathers regrew and then she would fly away to rejoin the other storks. She had other ideas! She claimed ownership of the garden and she was quite possessive of it. She flew freely but always returned to her garden and her daily meals , and was never tempted to migrate with the other storks. The cats were fascinated by her and she made friends with the dogs recovering in her garden. She was very special. We dont know how old she was but we do know that she was very loved for nearly 4 years. Yesterday she was fine, but she didn't wake up this morning. We will miss her terribly and we know many of you will mourn her passing. Fly free dear Storky. There will always be a special place in our hearts for you.

We are so proud of our vet  Dr Ahmed! He was selected with other just two Syrian vet to be trained in a large veterinary hospital in Istanbul/ Turkey next week . This is such a great opportunity for him. Our vets are without doubt included as best vets in Syria - and with newer and more upto date training, imagine the knowledge that will be passed on to future vets and animals welfare. His documents and food and training costs are covered but we need to cover for 2 weeks accommodation and for new uniforms and surgical scrubs - and for this we need to ask you for help. 🙏 If you would like to help us with the costs and to further enhance veterinary skills in Syria please could you help us ensure his visit to Turkey? You can donate on these fundraisers. ernestosanctuary.org/donatio… justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… You can state 'Vet training' on your donation. let's help Dr Ahmed to increase his already considerable skills and knowledge. His travel is very soon and he will be able to update us daily about his experience training so stay tuned.

Once again we are in the winter dilemma we usually face. Eat or Heat. In the last 3 months of fundraising we haven't raised enough for 2 months of food. This months fundraising for fuel is also causing us sleepless nights. We are a very small organisation, doing amazing and necessary work in Syria - and we still need your support. The war ended, the problems with animal welfare didn't. We are helping more animals now than at any time in our history. We are neutering, vaccinating, advising, educating and performing 100s of surgeries every month - to save lives and improve conditions for all animals. We do not have big reserves of food, or fuel or money. We only have you. Please, support our efforts for a kinder world for the ones who have no chance. justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… donorbox.org/gunthersfamilye… ernestosanctuary.org/donatio… justgiving.com/crowdfunding/…

We aren't quite sure what's going on here......🤔 It's not even Valentines Day! 💕

October 4th 2026 is World Animal Day. The theme this year is 'See the World through their eyes'. Our animals eyes have seen so much horror in their lifetimes. So many years of war and bombs and abandonment. So much injury and hurt. The war is over but our fight for animal rights and welfare are not. The animals at Ernestos are the lucky ones. They have us, and they trust that food, water, and care will always be given They don't know about rising prices or our fight to keep going. They only know that with us they have a home at last. But we are also fighting to improve veterinary standards across Syria and improve animal welfare for all animals. We wont give up our fight as long as we have your support. This World Animal Day, will you donate to help our mission? justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… donorbox.org/gunthersfamilye… ernestosanctuary.org/donatio…
