ISRO successfully launches GSLV-F18 carrying NVS-03, the third satellite in India’s next-generation navigation satellite constellation.
Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) is India's regional satellite navigation system.
It is developed by the ISRO.
It was earlier known as the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS).
The system provides Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services to users.
NavIC was originally designed with a seven-satellite constellation supported by a network of ground stations operating round the clock.
Its architecture comprises three satellites in geostationary orbit and four in inclined geosynchronous orbit.
NavIC covers the Indian landmass and a region extending approximately 1,500 km beyond India's geopolitical boundary.
NVS series is being deployed to augment the existing constellation and ensure continuity of navigation services.
NavIC provides two types of navigation services to cater to civilian and authorised strategic users.
1. Standard Positioning Service (SPS): An open navigation service available to civilian users. NavIC SPS signals are interoperable with the other global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals like GPS (USA), Glonass (Russia), Galileo (EU) and BeiDou (China).
2. Restricted Service (RS): An encrypted navigation service available exclusively to strategic users.

Meet Dr. Tawseef Ahmad Ganaie from Puchal, Pulwama, South Kashmir. Son of a labourer, Mohammad Ishaq, who sold his land and worked in Jammu to educate his children. Tawseef was always a topper, completed his Bachelors in Veterinary Science, and was serving as a Veterinary Surgeon in Poonch, Jammu for the last two years.
While most think you need to quit your job and go to Delhi for UPSC, he did the opposite. He balanced his professional duties, limited resources, financial struggles and prepared for India's toughest exam. On his second attempt, he cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 with All India Rank 254.
He was among the 16 candidates from Jammu & Kashmir who created history this year — the highest ever from the UT.
His own words say it all: "No examination is impossible to crack. Hard work, patience and continuity are the most important factors."
