Hey Ginny, 128,000 vote difference between Chow and Bradford, how is this not a massive win? She also got the most votes in Toronto mayoral election history (532,000+), so she should've gotten 600,000?

Well except that incumbent Toronto mayors almost always win and almost always win by a lot (more than this). It's very impressive that she turned out so many raw votes. There's not taking that away from her. But it's not because of a major failure by Bradford. It's because she closed well.

We know advanced voters are just regular voters who vote early, right?
In assessing Chow v. Bradford & tonight's result - the divide seems to be about the massive increase in advance voting - from 130K to 220K. Chow crushed the advance voting in 2023. Bailao actually WON on Election Day/Night votes. Advance: Chow 60,441 - 46.6% Bailao 19,212 - 14.8% Saunders 15,378 - 11.9% Election Day: Bailao 212,177 - 37.6% Chow 193,698 - 34.3% Saunders 43,558 - 7.7% So I don't have a feel for who advance voting benefitted more. Chow's team knows how to turn out. Does she win the advance & get beaten in Election Day votes again? Not sure. A huge turnout would generally not favour an incumbent Party or candidate. It DID favour the federal Liberals Easter weekend of 2025. They didn't lose the popular vote on Election Day, but it was notably closer than the 43.8-41.3 it finished at. We're on air 630p tonight & LIVE on the @am640 X account - we stay on air until there's nothing left to talk about. Myself & @BenMulroney - do join us.

To all the racist & misogynist asshats who made fun of Olivia Chow during this election campaign: Go fuck yourselves. She won overwhelmingly tonight, the voters of Toronto spoke tonight and that’s that. Suck it up for the next four years, democracy spoke loud tonight.

As a newly minted Torontonian, I’m thrilled that @oliviachow was reelected! Congratulations to the entire team! #ForwardNotBack
Tonight, the people of Toronto have spoken. And you have given me the extraordinary honour of continuing to serve as your mayor. I am grateful. I am humbled. And I am so proud of our city.

Don’t know if this has been said yet, but Olivia Chow is the first mayor to ever receive over 500,000 votes

Lobbyist takeover of Toronto city hall fails, Olivia Chow re-elected with 54% support, 523,000 votes That’s about 50,000 more votes than any winning Toronto mayoralty candidate ever, probably more than any other Canadian politician ever

I have to say...watching all the assholes who cheered for Brad Bradford have a meltdown today is entertaining. The ignorance and cruelty in their posts probably contributed to Chow's win. Who wants a Mayor with such vile supporters? Anyway, congrats Olivia Chow. #Toronto

They were never neck and neck. Shame on the MSM who keeps posting that garbage and misleading voters. It’s the same during federal elections too. And it’s never even close to being accurate.
All polls underestimated Chow, who notches a significant win against Bradford, his lobbyist backers and his conservative media loudmouths Toronto is safe from a Conservative-driven decline and wants more progress on fixing the city

14% difference from the lead is nearly winning it all?
Olivia Chow is now the most successful singularly elected politician in Canadian history - Bradford LOST by 13 points - more than 130,000+ votes - but gets the lead on the headline like he almost did it? thestar.com/news/gta/brad-br…

This is well known racist Sue-Ann Levy who’s been canvassing for Brad Bradford and insulting older voters on social media who don’t agree with her. Pictured here with Jamil Jivani at a 4th of July party for US Ambassadors in Ottawa. Connect all the dots Toronto and vote for Chow.

Holy crap, the BC Cons tried tabling a bill making a new statutory holiday called the Freedom Convoy Recognition Day (and abolishing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation).

Bill M 228, the Freedom Convoy Recognition Day Act, would make March 11 a BC statutory holiday passed first reading so yes we'll see more of this culture war #BCpoli

Some of these I didn’t know and make me quite angry. BC Premier-elect Doerkson better not try to bring them in or that party will be toast in the next election. Eliminate National Day of Truth and Reconciliation? Proposed Freedom Convoy Recognition Day? Excuse me??
