My favorite part about playing football actually has nothing to do with what happens on the field.
Ask any athlete who has played a team sport and you’ll likely hear a similar answer every time: it’s about the relationships and lifelong bonds formed with your teammates. The shared sacrifice amongst the group to reach something much greater than ourselves is one of the best parts about being a team.
Whether it’s the coast-to-coast trips to and from games or something as simple as hanging out in the locker room, these will be the moments that I will undoubtedly miss the most whenever it’s time to walk away from the game.
So with that being said, to be nominated by my teammates for the Tom Pate Memorial Award means the world to me. I couldn’t be more proud and appreciative to be thought of in that way by my peers. This will forever be more special to me than any first down I’ve ever gained or touchdown I’ve ever scored. Regardless of who ultimately receives this prestigious award, knowing that my teammates believe I’m worthy of this recognition is more than enough for me.

When James Franklin got to Blacksburg, he didn't know who Aycen Stevens was.
He only knew "Tank" — the long-haired little brother of Penn State QB Tommy Stevens.
All grown up now, Aycen is expected to be a key part of the #Hokies' pass rush this fall.

We are profoundly saddened by the loss of 22-year-old Regina resident Bhishma Rajyaguru on Saturday.
In speaking with one of Bhishma's loved ones, he shared with us that he was a caring friend, a devoted son, a supportive brother, and someone who was always there for the people in his life. A gifted percussionist with a deep love of music, Bhishma's passion and presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all those mourning his loss. We also hold in our thoughts everyone who is supporting those affected during this incredibly difficult time.
We will honour Bhishma as part of our pregame ceremony on Thursday evening and are working with his family on the best way we can support them. We will share more information when it is available.
Doesn’t feel real man…
Dalke was the best teammate and the best friend a guy could ever ask for.
Thank you for always treating me like family from the very beginning. I will cherish those memories for the rest of my life. I wish I could tell you how much you meant to me.
I love you brother. I will miss you.
It is with profound sadness that the Saskatchewan Roughriders mourn the loss of linebacker and team captain Jayden Dalke, who passed away in a car accident yesterday evening. A relentless warrior on the field, Jayden’s determination, toughness and work ethic inspired his teammates, who cared deeply for him and are heartbroken by his passing.
Jayden had a unique gift of making the people around him feel special and valued. No one ever left a conversation with him without a smile. On and off the field, he was the true definition of what it means to be a Saskatchewan Roughrider.
Our hearts go out to the entire Dalke family, who traveled the country to watch Jayden live his dream. We will miss him terribly and will never forget the impact he had on our lives and our team.
