I’m asking this in good faith: how can a fairly new democracy be considered ‘Old South Africa?’
How did they not realise that he’d have had to live with it either way? 🤣

I know everyone's excited about the Springboks coming home, but I thought the previous way was working quite nicely, salary-wise, giving-exposure-to-young-players-wise, parking-the-veterans-in-an-easier-league-wise, not-beating-each-other-up-wise. Oh well.

I struggle to understand how a party whose politics and history I consider deeply exclusionary continues to receive this level of support??
Both teams had an otherwise reliable main frontline spinner with a poor record against the opposition. The big difference was that South Africa dropped theirs after a poor performance in the first Test while Australia brought theirs back for the series decider.
Ian Healy says Australia cannot win the Ashes in England.
He wants Xavier Bartlett and Fergus O'Neill given Tests, and Nathan Lyon put in a bowl-off in the next two Shield games.
Lyon took 6 wickets in the South Africa series. Simon Harmer took 14.
Healy says Lyon "didn't turn and bounce the ball like he has in the past."
Australia's spin question may be louder than their pace one.
