Incredibly proud of our officers who put their safety at risk to apprehend these individuals. 🙏
Thank you to these brave officers for their great work in responding quickly, making arrests, and laying charges.
In this case, those arrested included a 14-year-old. In other cases, we have seen adults recruit and exploit young people to commit crimes.
While we continue to enforce the law and do all we can to apprehend offenders and bring them before the courts, these are all examples of why we need to keep advocating for programs and reforms that address youth involvement in serious crime.
This is not just a policing issue. We all have a responsibility to help deter criminality, hold offenders accountable, and ensure young people do not go down the path of crime.

Yesterday, Chief @TPSMyronDemkiw reminded the public that while debate and discussion are an important part of the election, election signs are the property of the candidates they represent and should not be removed, damaged or tampered with.
If you witness election signs being stolen, damaged or tampered with, please report it to police: tps.ca/services/online-repor…
"Stop tampering with lawn signs. There are laws. We will enforce them when the evidence presents itself." @TorontoPolice @TPSMyronDemkiw addresses the theft of campaign signs across the city, telling @MooreintheAM there will be a way to report any vandalism during the election.

Today, with the @TorontoPolice Command Team, I met with our Jewish Community Consultative Committee, the Toronto Police Service Board, and the Board's Jewish Advisory Table to discuss the hate-motivated shooting incident in Belleville.
Together, we discussed concerns within the community and reaffirmed our shared commitment to safety, trust, and ongoing dialogue. We understand the fear and uncertainty that incidents like these create within the Jewish community.
We will continue to maintain an increased presence around places of worship, schools, and community centres to ensure that community members are safe and feel safe.
Thank you to the committee and advisory members for the candid conversation and continued partnership. We remain committed to collaborating with community leaders, policing partners, and all levels of government to help identify and address threats motivated by hate and violent extremism.

We wrapped up the final weekend of summer with the city as busy as ever. I had the opportunity to visit our officers and @Toronto_Fire partners stationed across the city at events and celebrations, while also connecting with community members at gatherings such as the First Responders Appreciation BBQ and the Toronto Ukrainian Festival. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a safe and successful end to the season.

Keeping Toronto safe requires strong partnerships. Police-Public-Private Partnerships are essential. The work between @TorontoPolice and @JSNSecurity helps us share information more quickly, strengthen situational awareness, and improve our ability to respond, particularly during times of heightened concern.
This partnership is one example of our broader commitment to strengthening collaboration across Toronto, whether with community organizations, businesses, security partners, social service agencies, or other stakeholders.
Earlier this week, Chief Superintendent Andy Singh joined members of the Jewish Security Network (JSN) in the @JSNSecurity Integrated Security Operations Centre.
Having a Toronto Police Service officer in the integrated security operations centre during the holidays and other times of increased community concern can strengthen communication and information-sharing between police and the community. This is just one component of broader work underway and increased police visibility across the city to support community safety.

Your @TPS31Div officers continue making major arrests. This one involved a loaded gun, break and enter tools, & cell phone signal jammer. Yesterday was an awful day for our Jane/Finch community but your officers will continue to do everything they can to #SupportSaferCommunities

A special thank you to our 9-1-1 call-takers and dispatchers, and to members across the Service who worked alongside our partners at @Toronto_Fire and @TorontoMedics to manage the increased demand yesterday and ensure Torontonians got the help they needed.
Your professionalism, dedication, and teamwork make a difference every day.
Yesterday’s storm brought a significant increase in calls for service across the city. Our members worked alongside our first responder and emergency partners to respond to those who needed us most.
Non-emergency calls also saw a substantial increase with 831 calls, compared to 579 calls during the same period on September 1, a 44% increase in volume.

So far this year, our officers have seized 349 crime guns. We are laser-focused on holding offenders accountable and doing everything we can to prevent gun violence in our communities.
These arrests are yet another example of the exceptional work our officers do every day. Thank you to @TPS31Div, @TPS51Div, and the Emergency Task Force for their outstanding efforts.
Officers have arrested four adults and four youths in connection with a stolen vehicle and firearms investigation, seizing a loaded AR-15-style rifle.
This brings the total to 349 crime guns seized in 2026 so far.
Every illegal firearm taken off our streets is one less that can be used to cause harm. Great work by our officers to safely make these arrests and make our communities safer.

It was great to be back at our annual Community Safety Day here in our #YorkCentre, hosted by my good friend Vijay Verma and his family, in memory of Vijay’s late wife, Nazli.
This event welcomes @TorontoPolice @TPS31Div @TPAca @OPP @OPPAssociation @Toronto_Fire @TPFFA @TTC_CEU, in addition to other local organizations to bring awareness to our public safety.
By his good deeds, Vijay reminds all of us how important it is to acknowledge the incredible work our first responders do to keep our #Ontario safe.
I am very proud to be part of a government led by Premier @fordnation who will always have their backs and #ProtectOntario.
