As part of our PROUD Program, team members from @GreatCanadianTO joined the Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation @TRCFDN for a park clean-up at Rowntree Mills Park. Their efforts led to the removal of over 50 lbs. of litter, making a real difference in the local environment.
Our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community support shines through in every clean-up initiative we undertake. Together, we're looking after where we live, one park at a time. 🏞️ 💚

🌎💧 Restoring Wetlands, Protecting Water 💧🌎
On #WorldWaterDay, we're celebrating the power of collaboration in protecting and restoring wetlands.
Projects like the Carruthers Creek Watershed Management Plan in Ajax show how nature-based solutions—backed by strong partnerships—can help reduce urban flooding, improve water quality, and create thriving habitats.
Working together with incredible partners like Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Town of Ajax, we’re building more climate-resilient communities while protecting the ecosystems that support us all.
Check out our feature in Water Canada to learn more about how we're investing in our water future—one wetland at a time! 💧🌿

🐸🎶 It’s #WorldFrogDay! 🎶🐸
Did you know frogs sing to find mates and defend their territory? 🎤🌿 We’ve been recording their calls for 15+ years, and in 2024, we expanded our efforts with song meters to capture even more data!
🎧 Listen for these local voices in our wetlands:
🔹 American Toad – A long, monotone trill 🌀
🔹 Spring Peepers – High-pitched “peeps” 🎶
🔹 Leopard Frog – A low snore followed by grunts 😴
Tracking frog songs helps us monitor wetland health and protect these vital ecosystems. 💚

Exciting discovery: #SpottedGar found in Toronto waters! During a recent night electrofishing survey, TRCA made an incredible find - a Spotted Gar! This marks the first record of this fish species in over 30 years of waterfront fisheries surveys in the region.
The Spotted Gar is both an #endangered and unique native fish, known for its long snout and spotted body. This ancient and primitive fish species has the ability to breathe air, and its sharp teeth demonstrate its role as a top predator.
This discovery underscores the need to continue to monitor and understand the biodiversity of our local waters so we can make informed decisions about how to best safeguard habitat for fish communities.
