Folks eating watermelon in Denton County circa 1910. Seeing this reminded me of former governor Coke Stevenson talking about the size of watermelons in Texas. Coke said that in Kimble county, his home county, that the watermelons were so big that farmers found it easier to blow holes in them with rifles in order to let their hogs feed on the contents. Coke added, "After thousands of hogs have been fattened in this manner, the rind is left intact and is used to shelter cattle through the winter. Usually one melon will house 200 head of cattle along with a few sheep and goats." Some accused Gov. Stevenson of "stretching the blanket," but we all know it's the God's honest truth.

imagine an unclenched sisyphus joyfully working out every morning, getting stronger every day
after 1000+ 1-1s with clients, my take on conditioning is "there's a quite a lot, but the really hurtful chunks are more limited than expected"
in practical coaching, it ends up that there are 10-15 issues that count as heavy and then some 10s of medium-to-high, and it can take as low as 10-20 hours of unconditioning
do aim for pareto efficiency and return to enjoying regular life, dont spend your whole life being in perpertual inner work
Cardinal rule of dooming is you have to make it count. If you actually say it's over then the least you can do is stop giving a fuck and taking yourself so seriously. We're all going to be cooked soon so what purpose does fear even serve at this point
Might as well remove the masks, shoot the shots, take the risks. Unless you still care about looking cringe and people forming opinions about you and what not, which secretly means there's a part of you that still thinks the future might turn out good enough for first world shit like that to matter
Go all in optimism and you make the most of your life. Go all out acceptance and you ironically end up freeing yourself and achieving the same outcome either way. Just actually believe in something to the fullest. Get rid of the emotional hedges and stop larping as a terminal cancer patient without the associated valor of strength

I started a podcast with @trufelman, where we read canonical philosophical and sociological texts, and then discuss how those ideas illuminate our understanding of dress. The idea is that listeners can treat this like a book club and read along.
