One question ? Who writes West Africa's next chapter? The empires of Songhai and Oyo weren't just history. They were strategy, and the lessons still apply. 📍 St. Pancras Community Association, London 🗓 6 Nov | 5pm 🎟 Tickets: eventbrite.com/e/geopolitics…

Nigeria’s restructuring debate is about more than changing the constitution. It is about moving from an overly centralised system towards a genuine federation where power is shared and regions have greater control over their affairs. The argument for ethnolinguistic federalism calls for a system that recognises Nigeria’s diverse peoples while preserving a united country. This requires rethinking the balance of powers between the federal and regional levels, including the division of responsibilities on the legislative lists. The lesson is clear: national unity is stronger when diversity is recognised, power is decentralised, and every constituent people has a meaningful role in governing the country.

Africa must move away from the history of power to the strategy of power. Geopolitics and geoeconomics shape the rise of powers, the fall of empires and the future of nations. From Russia to East Asia, history has been used to understand power and shape national strategy. Africa must also connect its history to present realities and future ambitions. At The Thought Builders Institute, we are committed to equipping Africa and the Global South to understand the world and shape their place in it. The fight against colonialism belongs to our history. The responsibility to shape our future belongs to us. The Thought Builders Institute. ©️ Oladimeji Bolarinde, TYF President
