What do you track beyond win rate?
31 points with one made three. Ty Jerome went 14/14 at the line against Sacramento. Running him off the arc was only half the job. He kept finding points through contact. Memphis won 123–112. Film and stats: Oct 25.
TOOK THE POINTS
WON BY SIXTEEN 🟠🔥
Kyrie from deep. Dallas in control. Final: Mavericks 121 Pacers 105.

Two points through three quarters. Then 21 in the fourth. Franz Wagner made ZERO threes against New York. Eight fourth-quarter layups and five free throws did the damage. The jumper was cold. He kept finding the rim. Film and stats: Oct 25.
MILLER ERASED IT
OKORO FLIPPED IT
CHICAGO FINISHED IT 🟠🔥
A block at one end. The go-ahead bucket at the other. Then the final horn: Bulls 132 Bucks 125.

This is a rotation story, not a claim that one team arrives rested.
Memphis and Utah both played Sunday. The Grizzlies also had to travel from Sacramento. At the last verified injury update, Memphis's Isaiah Stewart and Utah's Jaxson Hayes were questionable, so the available frontcourt combinations are worth checking.
The basketball question is how each team manages its stints without losing defensive organization. Fresh legs help less if the next group misses a rotation, fails to box out or cannot get into its offense.
I am watching the substitutions, how quickly players get back after misses and whether late possessions still create movement before the shot. A lively bench or a controlled pace could make the schedule much less visible than the back-to-back label suggests.
It is week one. One sloppy stretch is not proof of fatigue, and one hot shooting quarter is not a settled team identity.

Thirty four points is the headline. Twenty nine shots is the context.
Brandon Miller got Charlotte through Saturday, but the scoring total alone does not tell us how repeatable those possessions were. With Kon Knueppel and Coby White out, my question against Washington is whether Charlotte can create clean looks without leaning on difficult finishes.
For the Wizards, that means showing help early, recovering under control and keeping hands out of the shooting motion. Making Miller work loses its value if the possession ends with free throws or an uncontested kickout.
Watch where his catches happen and how quickly the next pass comes. If Charlotte gets him moving into space instead of holding the ball against a set defense, that changes what Washington has to defend.
One first-week game is evidence, not a trend. Shot quality matters more than predicting another scoring total.

Miami's winless start does not erase this on-court contrast.
Through the opening week, the Heat lead the league in restricted-area scoring margin. Dallas is third from bottom. That means points scored versus points allowed right around the basket, not simply which team plays faster.
With Dereck Lively out, Dallas has to protect that space without turning every drive into an open kickout. The first defender's positioning matters: if he contains the ball, the help can stay closer to shooters. If he gets beaten cleanly, everyone behind him has a harder decision.
I am watching how often Miami makes Dallas defend a second action and whether the Heat attack before the defense gets organized. If Miami settles outside or Dallas contains drives without extra help, the interior matchup looks very different.
These are tiny first-week samples, not settled team identities. Tonight is a chance to watch the possessions behind the numbers.
Film: Oct 24, Miami at Charlotte.

Back to back does not automatically mean tired legs.
Minnesota played yesterday, but only Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels went past 28 minutes. Anthony Edwards is listed available tonight. That is a better starting point than treating every back to back as the same workload.
Cleveland's opportunity is to make Minnesota defend the whole possession: move the ball, make the second action count and avoid the rushed shot that starts a run the other way. The schedule only matters if your execution makes the opponent work.
I am watching defensive recovery, the early substitutions and whether Minnesota keeps finding quick offense. If the Wolves get comfortable shots before Cleveland sets its defense, the schedule argument matters a lot less.
The opposite caveat matters too: fewer minutes yesterday do not guarantee fresh legs, and available does not promise unrestricted minutes. It is week one, not a settled fatigue trend.

The stop is not finished when the shot misses.
Houston turned 13 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points against Atlanta on Saturday. That makes the rematch about the possession after the first contest, not just who wins the initial matchup.
Steven Adams is out again, but he was already out Saturday. His absence does not automatically remove Houston's rebounding pressure. Atlanta needs contact before the ball comes off the rim, with guards helping collect the rebound instead of leaking out too early.
Watch whether the Hawks secure those first misses and get a clean outlet. That is also the counterpoint for Houston: if Atlanta finishes the possession, extra Rockets crashing the glass can leave space to attack the other way.
One meeting does not establish a season-long pattern. I want to see whether Atlanta changes the quality of those second efforts, rather than assuming Saturday repeats itself.
Film: Oct 24, Houston at Atlanta.

TAMPA GAVE THEM AN EXTRA OUT. MILWAUKEE MADE THEM PAY.
Aranda had a chance to retire Contreras. The foul pop hit the ground instead. Same hitter, same at-bat: RBI single. A 4–0 lead became 4–1. That is the cost of making your pitcher get the same out twice.
Frelick’s damage came later, in the sixth. He fouled off four pitches, then hit pitch nine out to tie it 4–4. Different inning, different failure to finish. Milwaukee won 5–4 and leads the series 2–0.
Tonight’s correction is concrete: when Peralta creates an out, complete it. Milwaukee already extends at-bats on its own. Tampa cannot donate more.
Game 3 • Monday, Oct. 26 • 8 p.m. ET

ONE TOUGH RUN ISNT A RUN GAME
Philadelphia finished Week 6 with just 35 rushing yards. One scoring run doesn’t fix an offense that can’t stay on schedule.
Tonight’s question: can the Eagles build a ground game that helps between the scoring plays, instead of leaving McKee to solve every difficult down?
Cowboys at Eagles • 8:15 PM ET
Footage is from Oct 18, not tonight.

Four completions. Nearly two-thirds of the passing yards. Nix finished with 222, but his four biggest completions supplied 146. Denver won 30–16 while converting just 3 of 11 third downs. Explosive? Absolutely. Consistent? That’s the next test.
Thirty completions. Ten points. Shough completed 78.9%, but the Saints ran 17 times for 18 yards, threw a red-zone interception at 13–10 and missed a late field goal. Completion percentage is not drive efficiency.
AMEN SAID NO. Missed jumper at one end. Erased Wemby’s tying try at the other. The block came with 2.5 seconds left. Two late VanVleet free throws followed: Houston 114–110. The clip’s 112–110 FINAL flash was premature. That’s the value of a defender who can win the next play. Oct. 23 retrospective.
