As the BC provincial election nears this weekend, I urge you to go out and  vote.  Exercise that right to decide who you wish to form government which is the core of Democracy. This duty of civil society is even more important in these critical times, as Canada seeks to maintain its independence as one, strong, sovereign nation. I hope we will elect a BC government that would lead us forward, to a progressive, social and economic future together: hopeful, compassionate, united and resilient.

Congrats, my friend!
Thoughts From The Campaign Trail! As we look at election results from across the province, there is no doubt that voters have sent a message. I know there will be plenty of commentators offering their interpretations of what that message is. I wanted to share a few thoughts about what I believe voters are trying to tell us. People are looking for competence from their government, not ideology. Politics can sometimes attract people who are more motivated by a desire to reshape society in their own image than by the practical responsibilities of governing. But I don’t believe that’s where most voters are. First and foremost, people want government to do its job. They want it to deliver the basic services we all depend on, and to deliver them well. At the municipal level, that means good recreation centres, clean parks, potholes filled, snow removed, safe neighbourhoods and responsible management of property taxes. Getting the basics right has been my mantra since the day I walked into City Hall. And I believe the people of Port Coquitlam have responded to that approach. Second, people want results they can actually see and feel. That means being upfront, honest and realistic about what we can accomplish. Increasingly, I see politicians making grandiose promises designed to capture attention and win votes, even when those promises are completely detached from reality. And when those promises inevitably go unfulfilled, the damage goes well beyond the politician who made them. It erodes people’s trust and confidence in government itself. That’s one of the reasons I place so much importance on delivering core public services exceptionally well. It doesn’t mean government shouldn’t be ambitious. Quite the opposite. We should have big aspirations for our communities and our province. We should want to tackle difficult problems and make life better for people. But we also have to be honest about what is possible, realistic about what it takes, and accountable for what we promise. When government consistently gets the small things right, it earns the trust and confidence necessary to take on the bigger challenges. Finally, I think people are looking for a return to some normalcy in our politics. I think people are exhausted by politics built around division, hostility and the demonization of anyone who happens to see the world differently. I can’t think of many other parts of our lives where we would consider that acceptable behaviour. When I’m at the rink or the field watching my two boys, I talk with other parents who have all kinds of different opinions and perspectives. We don’t necessarily agree about politics or everything happening in the world. But I can tell you one thing we do agree on. We all want our kids to be happy, healthy and have the best possible shot at a good life. And I think that says something important about who we really are. I don’t believe the public is nearly as divided as some politicians would have us believe. I don’t believe we’re locked in some do-or-die struggle where one side has all the answers and everyone on the other side is beyond redemption. That’s not how we behave in our families. It’s not how we behave at work. It’s not how we behave on teams. And it’s not how we should behave in our politics. We can disagree without being enemies. We can have different beliefs without questioning one another’s character. And we can recognize that, despite our differences, most of us want many of the same things for ourselves, our families and our communities. I believe there’s far more that brings us together than pulls us apart. And I believe government works best when it focuses on those things we have in common, earns the public’s trust through actions and results (usually smaller, incremental ones), and stays firmly planted where the vast majority of normal people are.

Heartbreaking, terrible news from CFB Wainwright. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, as well as all our Forces and first responders for their heroic service and effort, as always. We are united in our grief, and in our support for everyone affected.
It is with profound sadness that we confirm that a fire incident at CFB Wainwright on October 17 resulted in fatalities and injuries. Our immediate priority is supporting those affected and notifying next of kin. canada.ca/en/department-nati…

Attention federal Liberals in BC: Poilievre Conservative MP Marc Dalton is clear: “Lorne Doerksen has taken positions on issues important to many OneBC supporters, including DRIPA & SOGI…It’s public record that…I supported KLF, so I appreciate what you’re saying.”😳#bcpoli
Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows: This is a close race, and every vote matters. The latest projection I found in this riding, dated October 15, puts the NDP at 48.5% and the BC Conservatives at 45.7%. OneBC is projected at 3.4% and CentreBC at 2.4%. There is no Green candidate in this riding. For voters whose priority is changing the government, these numbers raise an important question: could splitting the centre-right vote affect the outcome? To OneBC and CentreBC supporters in Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows and across British Columbia, I ask you to consider voting for the candidate best positioned to defeat the NDP. In this riding, that means considering Doug Morneau and the BC Conservatives. Doug is a solid federal Conservative who serves on my Board, and I know he brings a business and financial background to the table. I know firsthand how consequential a close election can be. In 2017, after eight years as an MLA, I narrowly lost in what is now Maple Ridge East. I know that a few votes further to the right contributed to that outcome. The NDP subsequently formed government with Green support by one seat. British Columbia has experienced nearly a decade under a disastrous NDP government. Voters will have to decide whether they want to continue in that direction or choose a different path. I am not dismissing OneBC’s or CentreBC’s policies, or the people who support them. I know Susan Einarsson well, regard her as a friend, and appreciate the support she has shown me. Before she submitted her nomination papers, I urged her to reconsider running in this riding because of how competitive the race is. Lorne Doerksen has taken positions on issues important to many OneBC supporters, including DRIPA and SOGI. CentreBC voters may have their own priorities and concerns. There are differences among the parties, but voters should weigh those differences against their broader priorities for the province. The same consideration applies in every riding. If your priority is seeing the NDP out of government, look at the local numbers, the candidates, and the likelihood of each party winning. A vote for a OneBC or CenterBC may reflect your views, but in a close race it can also affect which major party forms government. I also saw a significant shift in Conservative voting federally. In the 2025 federal election, my vote increased by more than 10,000 and my share of the vote rose by about 10 percentage points compared with 2021. The People’s Party vote in Pitt Meadows–Maple Ridge fell from 5.3% in 2021 to 0.55% in 2025. I narrowly won. My appeal is simple: For those who want a change in Victoria, I encourage you to consider the BC Conservative candidate best positioned to win in your riding. Here in Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows, I encourage you to consider Doug Morneau. Let’s give British Columbia the opportunity for a fresh start.

Not one @Conservative_BC candidate or @CPC_HQ MP has condemned Islamophobic comments tied to @LDoerkson's campaign director, who remains in the role. Doerkson & his candidates' silence speaks volumes. If you don't have the courage to stand up to hate - you're not fit to lead.

Have some self respect man. Her words weren't directed at the perpetrators, it was directed at an entire religion, one you claim to be a part of. Would you defend with the same vigor if she had said Christianity, or Judaism instead of Islam?
Gary — I’m a Muslim. I’ve been on the same campaign team as Katy Merrifield. She is the furthest thing from a hateful person, and you should be ashamed of yourself for this desperate attempt to smear her. Her first post was in response to a horrific mass rape and human trafficking case in the UK involving Muslim perpetrators. Their actions were reprehensible, as is the extreme brand of Islam, which are behind them. I say that without hesitation as a Muslim myself. As for Katy’s response to someone else’s post about Pride; that post was discussing taxpayer funding, not anyone’s identity or right to live as they choose. Again, you’re grasping at straws. Perhaps it’s time to consider why so many British Columbians are fed up with the identity politics you insist on pushing.
