Today we will hold a ceremony to mark the restoration of the two @TfL constituent war memorials in North Finchley, with HM's Deputy Lt, the Mayor of Barnet, & Rail Minister Lord Hendy. Funded by @LTMuseumFriends , @RailwayHeritage, @FinchleySociety & Barnet War Memorial Assocn.
Despite the awful weather Deputy Lieutenant Martin Russell and Barnet Mayor Zahra Beg unveiled the restored @TfL war memorials at the United Services Club in North Finchley today

The signal box at Barrhill on the Stranraer line which I visited this morning. The box dates from the early 1900s and was moved from Portpatrick to Barrhill in 1935 after a fire destroyed the previous box at Barrhill. The original lever frame was retained. Note the station cat!

We recently gave a grant to St Albans Signal Box South Museum for repainting work. Today we visited the team to see what they have achieved. It’s a great hands-on resource to educate all ages about the history of signalling and how it all works - fascinating stories!
Great to see restored clock tower at Scarborough Station, with newly gilded crest, this morning. Part funded by a large @RailwayHeritage grant.

Went to @yorkcivictrust event on Our Place: Acomb & Westfield yesterday. Have worked with them on understanding origins of Railway Housing Association properties in the ward. I also never knew the Tennyson connection & always wondered what the JB letters stood for.

Good to see the new small business centre at Redcar Central Station now open, first tenant Lark Bakery selling some lovely cakes. Do pop by & support them if you’re in the area. We gave a grant to Redcar & Cleveland BC to restore the building. More tenants coming soon.
Nearly 40 years ago, Gordon Rushton and I had an idea to recreate @festrail loco Taliesin. Although the loco has been in service for the last 27 years, today is my first mainline footplate ride on it!
