To be Black in America is to walk in the valley of the shadow of pain and death. The fact that Black people still manage to carry on and create and find joy and love in the valley is nothing short of a miracle. And right now, our love of #BreonnaTaylor is filling us with rage.

I think this is my third time this year retweeting my own tweet. The faces change each time but the feelings remain the same. It hurts. – at Chicago, IL
Being black in America is truly exhausting at times. I was gonna type a bunch of words, but those same words have been said countless times by countless people over countless years. The fact that racism and bigotry age so well in our society is infuriating. I’m tired...

This is what structural racism looks like
We reviewed more than 900 officials and executives in prominent positions and found that just 20% identify as Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, multiracial or otherwise a person of color. Here are the faces of power in America today. nyti.ms/32j0qc0

"I am asking you (the UN) to help him. I am asking you to help me. I am asking you to help us — black people in America," said George Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, addressing the UN Human Rights Council in a video message. cnn.it/2YIx4kC

I think companies should also ask, “why didn’t we care to do anything when we saw Black employees leaving at higher rates, not getting promoted, and when we didn’t have a single Black employee on the leadership team?”
I’m seeing an increase of conversations in companies stating “we need to do more around diversity equity and inclusion” While this is important, it’s equally important as leaders to ask the hard question of “why was DEI not important to us before?” Really ask. Really listen.

My question to President Trump just now: Why haven’t you laid out a plan to address systemic racism? What is the plan? His response: A strong economy.
