The iPhone Duo goes on sale today, but plenty of buyers may immediately find the matte film on the inner display hard to live with. It makes the crease less visible, but really hurts the viewing experience. If you’re willing to risk damaging the phone, there’s another option: peel off the matte film. Chinese tech creator Yang Changshun did exactly that, showing us the iPhone Duo’s inner display without it: sharp, clear, with excellent colors. The picture quality looks like it could be among the best on any current foldable. But once the film is off, the screen feels soft and squishy, losing that solid feel, and the crease becomes incredibly obvious. Worst of all, adhesive residue remains around all four edges. #Apple #iPhoneDuo #Foldable

The biggest argument over the fatal AITO crash in Shenmu, China, is now about what exactly “139.1 km/h” refers to. On October 17, an AITO crashed into a traffic light pole in Shenmu, Shaanxi, and caught fire, killing the driver. AITO said yesterday that the car was being driven manually and was traveling at 139.1 km/h through an intersection with a 50 km/h limit. Its preliminary explanation attributed the fire to electrical short circuits and fluid leaks following the impact. People have started analyzing the CCTV footage frame by frame. Some believe the car may have slowed to just 40–50 km/h by impact. One blogger used video timing and map distances to calculate an average speed of 31.8–44.5 km/h over the final 0.566 seconds before the crash. Others have calculated higher speeds. There is no consensus. That is the dispute: traveling through the intersection at 139.1 km/h and hitting the pole at 139.1 km/h are two different things. AITO’s statement gives the former without separately disclosing the speed at impact. To explain the collision and the fire that followed, knowing how the speed changed before impact would be much more informative than that one number alone. Even more frightening, judging by the timestamp in the upper-right corner of the CCTV footage, the car appears to catch fire within roughly two seconds of impact. How quickly the flames appeared has left many viewers shaken. #AITO #Huawei #Seres #ChinaEV

Another surprising claim from a Chinese tech blogger: the crease area on the iPhone Duo’s inner display feels soft and deforms even when you slide a finger across it. Weibo blogger “豆子发了芽” also complained that none of the hands-on videos he’d seen mentioned this. That sounds like a pretty gross thing to feel under your finger… #Apple #iPhoneDuo #Foldable

Apple’s first foldable has worse build quality than Chinese brands? Weibo tech tipster Kang says a friend sent him photos of an iPhone Duo demo unit with a gap when folded shut, light showing through, and alignment issues between the screen and frame. His advice: lower your expectations for the first batch and get AppleCare+. He stressed that this only describes the one unit he saw. The sketch in his post was converted from an actual photo. Apple arrived late, so people naturally expected it to have sorted out the problems earlier foldables went through. Looks like the first batch still deserves a close look in person. #Apple #iPhoneDuo #Foldable

Can someone tell me what I'm looking at. A car flipping in midair. Like, actually rotating through the sky. Tesla just showed the new Roadster with SpaceX cold-gas thrusters. Rocket trim. Official site straight-up says it can fly. This is not AI, right? #Tesla #Roadster #SpaceX #EV #ElonMusk

OpenAI pulled GPT-5.5 from ChatGPT and Codex yesterday. Today a bunch of people open the web app and just get Model not found. Same morning, DeepSeek's web and API in China were down for fifty-plus minutes. Don't tell me we've been getting routed to 5.5 all along, and once they yanked the model everything just walked off the job? Throw in today's sea of red on the markets, and yeah. One of those weekdays where nothing wants to cooperate. #OpenAI #ChatGPT #DeepSeek #AI #StockMarket
