🇬🇧 An incredible few days for the UK's manufacturing sector with £820 MILLION invested, THOUSANDS of jobs created and secured, and contracts worth over ONE BILLION POUNDS awarded! Planes, trains and automobiles... ✈️ Airbus is investing £150m and creating almost 500 new jobs at its wing manufacturing plant in Broughton. The aerospace giant is accelerating its global industrial strategy by converting its former A380 wing production facility into an A321 line. 🚗 McLaren Automotive is investing £500m and creating 1,000 jobs across its UK sites. The largest financial commitment in the company's history will ensure all future McLarens are British-built. 🚂 Derby's Alstom site has been awarded contracts worth more than £1 billion to build and maintain a new fleet of trains for TransPennine Express. The huge order is set to support around 350 jobs in Derby and more than 5,500 roles across the UK's supply chain. 🏭 Nissan Motor Corporation announced plans to invest £170m at its Sunderland plant as the Japanese carmaker prepares to build a new model in the UK - the Nissan Kicks. Not bad for a country that according to some naysayers doesn't make anything any more!

🇨🇳 CHINA BROKE THE SKY WITH 11,787 DRONES Chongqing, China just pulled off the wildest drone light show the world has ever seen. A jaw-dropping 11,787 drones lit up the night sky, setting a new Guinness World Record. The drones moved together to create glowing shapes like a giant running kid and swirling clouds above tall buildings. It looked more like a Pixar dream than something real. Fireworks could never. What is investment? Usain Bolt won 8 gold medals in 3 Olympics, and he only ran for less than 115 seconds on the track, earning $119M dollars. That’s economy of effort. But for those 2 minutes, he trained for 20 years. That’s investment. Think long term.

UK businesses beware! Companies House wants all small businesses to start posting their profit and loss statements for the world to see. When this goes ahead, not only can everyone see your finances in detail, they’ll see what you spend your money on. If your business has figured out a great marketing strategy or an awesome tech stack it will be there to see. If your business made a loss, maybe because you’ve been investing in growth you’ve had a bad year, everyone will see your financials. If you’re a small startup and you’re trying to look bigger than you are to win your first serious client, they’ll know that their deal will be significant. Maybe they won’t do the deal or maybe they’ll use it as leverage. If you top up your pension account, your whole team will see it. This will also be a scammers dream. They can send an AI through the internet looking for ways to exploit this data. When it goes ahead, it will be another blow to UK entrepreneurship. Why start a business in the UK and have your detailed financials on show to the world? Don’t believe it? Here’s the link. Please share this. gov.uk/government/publicatio…

We need to stop talking to kids about jobs and careers and start telling them how the world for them will work. Adulting is no longer about a period of learning, a period of working then a period of being retired. They’re heading into a high velocity economy where success looks like: - notice a problem - research it - assemble a team - solve the problem - scale the solution - make enough money to move to the next problem or to be economically free The tools of the trade are - a personal brand - a network - confidence leveraging technology - fund raising - aligning teams - scaling - commercialising This cycle will not be like a “good job” from pre-2000s. This will be like playing Tetris with people, ideas, money and tech. Any kids who are prepared for this type of work will be supremely successful and fulfilled in the coming decades.

This abandoned railway yard in Naples is set to become a green new district. @ZHA_News won an international competition with its design for the Napoli Porta Est masterplan — a 15 hectare area that represents one of the biggest regeneration projects in Europe. The masterplan will reconnect several city zones that had become disparate and isolated over recent decades, divided by the rail yard. At the core of the site will be two towers housing the Campania Regional Government Offices. The plan also comprises a new regional rail station, together with a residential development and a pedestrian bridge connecting to the existing Centro Direzionale (CBD). 📷 ZHA
