Also: thinking about classes? This is what we have for Fall 2024! Advanced Greek is Lysias and Plato; Advanced Latin is Cicero.
Join us this Friday at 4 p.m. in 821 Mazur @TULiberalArts for the 2nd Annual Daniel P. Tompkins Memorial Lecture on Diversity in the Ancient Mediterranean, delivered by Steven D. Smith, Professor of Classics and Comparative Literature at @HofstraU! Light refreshments to follow.
We managed to get most of our seniors together after graduation! (This is the photo when the most people are looking at the camera, sorry, Marium.) #iotriumphe
Need to pop in a GenEd Arts this summer? Dr. Mulhern Barnes is teaching GRC 0803: The Art of Sacred Space in Summer I! Online and asynchronous, wide-ranging, and loads of fun.
Very proud of our majors and minors who won @TULiberalArts Baccalaureate Awards! Marium won our own Vlachos Award, Chris and Nideen were honored by History, and Santiago by English.
Good times on Monday at our Floralia party! Highlights included Marium's thesis presentation, winners of various competitions, our Eta Sigma Phi initiation, and general silliness.

I always thought of the Lower Bodleian Reading Room as the best place to do work on Late Antiquity in Oxford—among the old patristic books, where Peter Brown once studied. But I’m very pleased to discover these 17th c. portraits of late antique greats in the Upper Reading Room!
End of semester party is today! 4 pm, Mazur 215. Pictionary, awards, speeches, pizza, macaroons... all welcome!

Hunter Omerzo (‘24) created an archaeologically accurate reconstruction of an Egyptian baris boat based on a recently excavated example; also described by Herodotus (2.96).
Squeezing in one last assignment before the end of the semester. Ancient Greek history students took epigraphic squeezes of inscriptions on campus and learned skill sets used by ancient historians in the field.
Our Greek Historians are making great progress on their inscriptions! They are fully carving their texts now and are painting their letters red (just like ancient Greeks and Romans did!) to contrast against the white marble. Well done!
Featuring two of our own majors: Indy Calig and Chris Klapakis! Io Triumphe!
We celebrated our Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 LAURA Scholars last week. What an outstanding group of over 50+ teams! We couldn't be more proud of our students and grateful for their faculty mentors! Read more about the wonderful event here.

Latin Club meets today! 4 pm, Mazur 321. Either the Vulgate Luke or something by request. I hear there are mini-Heath bars.
Our Greek History students are progressing on (chipping away at!) carving their ancient decrees in marble. It is exciting to see these documents come to life!
