we have a winner for the most absurd AI startup ever this Peter Thiel backed company uses AI robots to stab fish in the brain so they taste better and last up to 3x longer it's called Shinkei and it modernizes a centuries-old Japanese technique dozens of Michelin-star restaurants are already lining up to buy the fish here's how it works: > the problem is when a fish gets caught, it usually just suffocates on the boat > that stress floods the meat with hormones and lactic acid, which hurts the flavor and texture > the old Japanese fix for this was spiking the fish through the brain right after the catch, which stops all that > but doing it by hand is impractical for most American fishing crews > so Shinkei built a fridge-sized robot that sits right on the boat's deck > the crew feeds in a fish and AI identifies the exact species, so it knows exactly where the brain and gills are > the robot then drives the spike through the brain and cuts near the gills in about 7 seconds > the fish goes into an ice slurry so the blood drains out > so the fish doesn't sit there stressing out, and that tasty flavor and texture is preserved example number 5,392,417 of how AI can be applied to literally anything

Vibe coding romhackers/homebrewers - I don't care what the loud minority says. I want to see all of your dreams and imaginations come true! Imagine if I told you 30 years ago there would be technology that makes whatever you want by just asking it. You'd say that sounds impossible. I am so rediculously excited for the future. You don't have to spend years and years learning ASM and romhacking and the specific internal workings of the game you want to hack. You don't have to ask the gatekeepers of niche romhacking areas to help make this cool idea you had. Just...make it! And yeah, the people who felt special being the only ones who could do these things are going to be pissed. But as someone who spent 4+ years learning ASM and the internals of Starfox and fastrom conversions/disassembling whole games, I still say GOOD! Nobody should have to go through what I went through to make their ideas real! Ignore the haters. For every moron who is stuck in their instant "ai slop", "the environment", "water", "stolen code", there's 50 more out there who will love what you make. My discord wants to see EVERYTHING you make! The garbage, the slop, the unrefined gems. Seriously, ignore the loud minority. All they deserve is a block. discord.gg/fYJDEtBqAR

Even before AI, making absurd requests to a machine and screaming until it did what you wanted was a valid infiltration tactic.
The bug is like a joke. On Alpine Linux, type 257 to 1024 characters of anything and you get root. 💀

This is a psychological deficiency called being second handed. What other people do should have zero effect on your enjoyment in a productive life. Starbucks makes untold billions of dollars selling coffee across the planet. Yet you can still find local coffee shops pretty much everywhere filled with individuals who enjoy making coffee for customers. Photoshop and other digital tools have made creating art relatively easy over the past 30 years. But this has not stopped traditional artists From painting handmade masterpieces that you can still find on Magic the Gathering cards today. There is no easy fix for your condition unfortunately. This is something that can take months or years for you to unlearn. Do you need a proper hierarchy of values. A proper sense of a self esteem and pride that selfishly, your life is worth living and enjoying for YOUR sake, and no one else's. Just because your neighbor has a nice car doesn't mean you cannot enjoy a nice car of your own. Get back to coding and enjoying the things you love in life.
I'm just going to say it, vibe-coding killed my passion for programming. There's just no fun in it anymore when I know someone can now do the exact same thing in less than a fraction of the time with just a few words. There's no sense of fullfilment in it at all anymore... :/

In the future, we're going to look back on AI Seinfeld clips the way we look back on lolcats now, and I'm just happy to be here for the peak.

>LiberNT can now be the kernal for Ubuntu This is legitimately very exciting to me.
HUGE 🥳 LiberNT can now be the kernel for Ubuntu 26 instead of Linux we run Ubuntu 26 apps and even systemd itself natively side by side with windows apps and it performs way better than WSL1 and WSL2 on Windows runs great on AMD64, ARM64 and RISC-V64 too🎉

Microsoft Paint has a security vulnerability that could let hackers run malicious code on your PC over a network. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-83844, is rated 8.1 (High) and could allow attackers to execute code over a network without permission. Microsoft has published a security advisory and a patch for the issue.

‼️ BREAKING: OpenSSH has rushed out a fix for a critical flaw that lets attackers log into some Linux servers without the right password. The team learned of the bug a day earlier. OpenSSH's Damien Miller says long embargoes now mostly help attackers, because AI agents rediscover bugs, sometimes within hours. It hits Linux systems on the musl C library with PAM off, such as Alpine Linux. Miller told admins to disable password logins or SSH itself "IMMEDIATELY". Version 10.6p2 works around it. Systems on glibc or PAM are not affected, and Miller says the root cause sits outside OpenSSH.

"Nintendo still sells physical games!" Not for long
Macronix, Nintendo’s main ROM chip supplier for Switch game cards, is getting out of the ROM business. The Taiwanese company is phasing out production and won’t develop any new ROM products. - Q3 2026 will be the last quarter it reports ROM sales separately. - Macronix will shift towards other memory techs, including NAND. This will affect the supply chain behind Nintendo’s physical game cards.

Goddamn it. Do I get to say "I told you so!" now? I'm not specifically angry at geoff; a lot of other people were duped, too. I never was. I said from the beginning that codes of conduct were a pernicious trend that would lead to nothing but bickering and ruin. You'd think, givem that I'm the guy who originally wrote down the anthropology of open source, more people might have taking heed of my warning. Sigh...
Open-source "codes of conduct" are cancer and need to be retired; I deeply regret championing them. The inevitable outcome is an unproductive mob controlling projects through intimidation. Given enough time, it pushes away people who would contribute patches. Eventually, all that remains is an unproductive military-police class playing social status games.
