Just when the Texans receiving core was rounding into shape they suffered a setback Wednesday when it was confirmed leading receiver Jaylin Noel has been lost for the season with a serious turf toe injury. Noel was off to an impressive start as C.J. Stroud's trusted target.

Texas Southern coach @dishman_cris felt his defense wasn't as aggressive up front which is why he made the decision to assume play-calling. It seemed to make a difference in his first game against Southern. But being HC/DC can come at a cost. @TxsuProud defendernetwork.com/news/opi…

This is great! Now I'm just waiting for the one for the Cleveland Browns....lol @defendernetwork @HoustonTexans @DRyans59 @CJ7STROUD

TSU coach Cris Dishman is normally low key about awards. But Monday he made a case to the media that RB Athean Renfro should be SWAC Offensive Player of the Week after he ran for 135 yards and a TD against Southern. The right people heard him and awarded Renfro appropriately.

TSU defeats Southern 24-21 on a runoff FG!

Texas Southern hasnt gotten much going throwing the football but Athean Renfro and QB Cam'Ron McCoy are making Southern pay with ground attack. McCoy just had a big run for a TD to the Tigers up 21-7 early in the third quarter. @TxsuProud @defendernetwork @wadesword

Look where Texas Southern and Prairie View rank in NIL money in the SWAC. It looks like somebody is going to have to get their money up.

If the Rockets can make it deep into the playoffs during this Kevin Durant era will largely depend on the continued growth of Amen Thompson, who was given a nice phat extension this off-season. defendernetwork.com/sports/p…

My thoughts exactly @clarencehilljr

For those still in that the Texans-should-move-on-from-C.J.Stroud-camp, y'all are missing a special season in the make. Stroud is a special QB and deserves fans support and his money. @Texans_News @CJ7STROUD @clarencehilljr @RalphSOFKCOH @wadesword defendernetwork.com/sports/c…

Texas Southern coach Cris Dishman wasn't feeling well enough to appear on camera but he talked to me about his decision to take over defensive play calling. @defendernetwork @TxsuProud @dishman_cris @wadesword @RalphSOFKCOH @NateGriffFOX26 @clarencehilljr @TSUFootball

Prairie View kicker Ethan Eddins, Prairie View has been named SWAC Special Teams Player of the Week after delivering the Panthers' game-winning 37-yard field goal in the 41-38 victory over Alcorn State for Homecoming. He was 2 for 3 on the day, which also included 31-yarder.

Prairie View football coach Tremaine Jackson told the Defender what he liked about his defense and offense this past weekend after the recent staffing changes. And he jokingly left a message that wanted me to share with the PV fans.🤣🤣🤣

It's clearly the season for assistant football coaches to be humbled. Texas Southern football coach Cris Dishman says he will now call defensive plays. Dish, of course is an ex-NFL corner and defensive coach. @defendernetwork @TxsuProud @wadesword @RalphSOFKCOH @dishman_cris

Tremaine Jackson's message to the PV fans continued and it's all in fun people. "We know what we are doing over here and we are going to get it done at a high level. If there is any staff here at Prairie View that needs to be trusted, it's probably ours." @defendernetwork

Prairie View forces its will on the ground in end to pull out a must-win 41-38 Homecoming victory over Alcorn State. The win also ends a 2-game losing streak and keeps the Panthers in the SWAC West conversation. @defendernetwork @pv_vs_everybody @pvamufb_ @12thFan1876

This was great time with the Westside football team @coachcedric who I've known since I covered as athlete at TCU. Thanks @TwizzTwizz1 for joining me and give the student athletes some beneficial recruiting knowledge. @defendernetwork
