Oh come on Labour - so depressing to hear Pat McFadden say UK has no plans for a youth mobility scheme with the EU. We have schemes with NZ, Australia, Canada, Japan, Iceland, Uruguay - only reason not to have one with EU is fear of right wing press. Such cowardice @bbclaurak

This week Councillors Tess Read , James Banyard & I worked with Haldon Road residents on a street spruce up. 10 of us unblocked a major drain, removed woody weeds, popped bins into yards & litter picked. Every one has received info about recycling & food waste collections.

👏Climate and Earth scientists at #Exeter Uni are recommending carbon offsetting should be removed from plans to reach net zero and instead efforts should focus on leaving more fossil fuels in the ground. 💚Exactly so.

📈In her #Budget24 speech Rachel Reeves referred to growth 32 times. 🌎She didn't refer to climate once. 🌳Or nature - not a single mention. 0⃣This gives a whole new meaning to Labour's understanding of Net Zero.

Fuel duty staying frozen and discounted for another year, at 10 x what it would have cost to keep the £2 bus fare cap. Make it make sense 🤦 #Budget2024
The cost of capping bus fares at £2 would have been tiny compared with keeping the fuel duty freeze. We should be incentivizing public transport which would help reduce carbon emissions - rather than continuing with this regressive fuel duty cut. #AutumnBudget

🤔Exeter Labour claims greening the RAMM & Riverside is too challenging and cannot be achieved within budget. ☝️The contractor says the project can be delivered on time, within budget and while managing the risks. ⁉️ We need answers. We've called for an investigation.

❗️#Exeter Labour abandon green energy heating schemes at RAMM & Riverside Leisure Centre. 🤔 Is this Labour throwing in the towel on cutting carbon emissions and energy bills? 🖥 Watch Green cllr @DianaFMoore's reaction on @BBCSpotlight tonight.

"We need the Labour Council to make a sharp U-turn on this crazy idea. This is a prime site and we have a once in a generation opportunity to transform it into something distinctive for the benefit of residents and visitors alike." ~ @TessRead ➡️exeter.greenparty.org.uk/new… 3/3

I remember emailing Ben Bradshaw about this very issue and received a really poor response. How do they expect to reduce car use if they don’t improve bus services

🚍Great to see Labour backing Green Party policy on buses. 🖇But let's see joined up thinking and demonstrated commitment. ❗️Phil Bialyk recently voted down moves to improve bus reliabilty, blocking improvements to a bus lane in St Thomas #Exeter

✅An Ethical Advertising Policy for #Exeter would restrict advertising of products and services that are damaging to health or wreck the climate ✅This could help improve public health and contribute towards the city’s Net Zero target. 🤔What are we waiting for?

In July, Labour, Conservative and Independent councillors rejected proposals to improve bus service reliability along a key bus artery in St Thomas #Exeter. This decision is short-sighted and risks squandering Exeter’s slice of £14m Government Bus Improvement Plan funding. 2/3

@DianaFMoore Exeter Green Party leader > "A new car park right next to St Sidwell’s Point, a place which is meant to be a showcase for sustainability & health, and close to a dangerous roundabout & the bus station, beggars belief. [It shows] a breathtaking lack of imagination."

😱50,000 climate related deaths in Europe last year 😱Wild fires rage in Greece 🤷 In other news, #Exeter Labour decide its a good time for a new city centre car park (right next to the bus station 🤦‍♂️)
