This is my favorite pic of Elvis. Partially cuz he looks cool. Mostly because my grandma took it. September of 1957. He stopped for breakfast in Cleveland, TX after a show in Houston. Props to my mom @Beckyha72662639 for preserving it. #Elvis45 – at Houston, TX
Project Hail Mary will forever be associated with this voyage to India. With the precision of a German engineer, Gunne and I synced pushing play and are watching it in unison. We’ve both seen it But it seemed like a good film for a 15-hour flight!
This is a first. My daughter and I are neighbors.
Off to Doha. Then Bangalore. Then Udaipur. Then the boonies.
As far as I know this is the only flight we will be going backwards. I gotta think takeoff is gonna be sweet!
Every great expedition starts with a great meal. I went with a ribeye, partly because I'm an American and partly because we're gonna miss steak where we're headed. Mmm. Vegetables. And being Americans, we did the most American thing possible. We went to Outback Steakhouse. A chain pretending to be Australian. Just like Lewis & Clark did.
Tomorrow my daughter Gunne, Richard and I are off to India to film. Gunne is a lil nervous about the cuisine and the culture shock but fired up about everything else. That describes all of us, really. Mostly I'm beside myself that I get to take my kid along on this insane adventure.
The steak was bomb, by the way. G'day, mate. Namaste?
Ok elections over. Democrats, congrats on the bloodbath. Republicans, lick your wounds and get back in the game! There are still families with stories so we are still gonna be filming em! Like this amazing couple we filmed last week!
Let’s goooooo

I shared that story on X and went out this morning and my soon-to-be representative’s team had this in my yard! Now go vote and Honk for Bonck, neighbors!!
When I was a kid my pawpaw had popular mechanics and popular science going back to the 40s & 50s. He had these and mawmaw had readers digests through the same eras. I devoured all of them. Those magazines were foundational to how I think.
How far the once mighty have fallen.
The lead story in the new issue of Popular Mechanics is “How to Fight a Data Center.”
How sad and bizarre. Another once-great technology magazine turned against technology by leftists.

Between the Monday morning air disaster experts, the nonstop churn of prognosticating pollsters, and the tactlessly transparent politicians, everyone seems more interested in algorithmic games than ever.

@elonmusk I fell asleep listening to to @peterthiel on @WalterIsaacson pod and had one of those sudden spaz wake ups in a dream and in the dream you had inexplicably taken on a kinda white guy Jamaican accent 100% of the time. No excuse. You were like “ya mon off we go to moon”
Anyone want some green salsa? If there are no takers I’ll slap it up on Facebook marketplace. #hair
My typing has straight up gone to hell since the ai-splosion. Keyboards. iPhone. Freaking credit card keypads. All of it just gone.
My 35th class reunion was tonight. Damn. 35. That’s a big number. We had it at a bar and restaurant in Spring, Texas where I worked at in 1989. This place is haunted af. Wunsche Bros cafe and saloon. Google it. AI it. Do whatever ya gotta do but this old train hotel has some restless spirits bopping around.
Back in the day, I got a dose of those spirits. It was Halloween in 1989. I was 17. Me and my buddies Darrell and Russell dragged some apartment chicks to Wunsche Bros. Russ had a key so we took an Ouija board and thought we’d have some silly teen fun with a buncha beer and nothing to do.
This pic is of the hallway upstairs. Downstairs it’s a regular restaurant. In 1989 the upstairs was not built out. It was the same as it was in the 1920s. Completely ratchet, dirty, and unfinished. Cobwebs urrwhere. Maybe some extra restaurant chairs. Under this hallway, so the ceiling of the main restaurant, there were single lightbulbs hanging. We were downstairs, too chickenshit to go upstairs cuz we knew it was haunted up there.
We may have had a beer or two, but we bust out the Ouija board and aimed to summon ghosts. Corny. I know.
Well I don’t know if it was a ghost, but as we started Ouija boarding, the dangling lights flickered. We hooted and hollered and were way more interested in the apartment chicks than the shady electrical system of a raggedy old restaurant. We wrote it off to shitty wiring, but honestly we were a little spooked. Spooked enough that we stopped.
We jokingly apologized to the ghosts and put the board away.
Then the lights started swaying. They were physically moving. There was no way they could move. No AC. No fans. No way. But they were moving and not like a tiny bit. They were all swaying. And it got hot af. It’s supposed to get cold but it got hot.
It got hot and we got tf out. Back to the truck. Off to some other teen haunt.
The end.
I know. Lame ending. But we were super freaked out.
Tonight, as I was leaving my reunion, I thought about that night. In that same place. The upstairs is gorgeous now. Great location for an event. But the whole night that is all I could think of. Those swaying lights. No way in hell it was natural.
So on the way out, I took the pic.
Anyhow, that’s my 35th high school reunion story.
