And now we’ll all think of Helen from time to time!
Do you know the story of the Titleist logo?
The company was looking for a word that was synonymous with excellence. 'Titleist' was unanimously chosen as the name of the golf ball and brand.
An company exec suggested the handwriting of an office secretary, named Helen Robinson, who he said had "beautiful penmanship".
Helen was given a sheet of paper and asked to write the word ‘Titleist.’ The way she wrote the word on the page that day is exactly how one of the world’s most recognised marks continues to appear today, gracing every piece of Titleist since that day in 1935.

Took the last groups six hours to play today. Long waits on the tees coming in. Just a brutal day in the heat.

I was a little surprises that entire "island" was considered part of the cart path (obstruction), but if that were the case, then Rules Official made 2 mistakes in her statements & questionning--before still arriving at the correct ruling of free relief... --But, had Ganne...
Replying to @GolfweekNichols
@GolfweekNichols can you report on the free relief Megha Ganne got (I think hole 13) - just curious

After consulting with numerous doctors and my team, I have decided it is best for my long term health, to withdraw from this weeks US Open Championship. To say I’m disappointed is a massive understatement! I wish all my peers the best of luck and want to thank all of the USGA staff, volunteers and community of Pinehurst for hosting and putting on what I’m sure will be an amazing championship! Hopefully I'll be back in action sooner than later!

This is John Spitzer.
He is in charge of equipment at the USGA.
"Equipment plays a very very small role in this. The increases that we see at the PGA Tour level are almost entirely due to the player himself."

Why do I keep reading that the typical amateur will not "notice" a change with a shorter golf ball?
Guess what? That's not true.
The USGA, (yes, that USGA) ran a large multi-year study where they had 977 recreational golfers testing two different limited flight golf balls.
The first ball was 8.5% shorter.
The second ball was 4.5% shorter.
One of the survey question they asked was:
▶️How did you feel that [the ball] affected your round?
For the ball that went 8.5% shorter, 68% answered that it "hurt" their round in some capacity.
For the ball that went 4.5% shorter, 49% answered that it "hurt" their round in some capacity.
Yet I keep reading "nobody will notice".
Which is not true. Golfers will notice.
68% said it hurt with an 8.5% rollback.
49% said it hurt with a 4.5% rollback.
I am pretty sure that 49% and 68% are larger than "nobody will notice".
