Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis gives players the choice enjoy a classic experience without crafting and progression 🚀
✅Crystal Dynamics is updating the original's graphics, gameplay mechanics, and adding new progression and crafting systems.
✅Players can fine-tune their experience, allowing them to completely ignore new progression and crafting systems if they prefer a classic style.
✅Fans of the 1996 original can increase puzzle difficulty and dial back combat.
Fans of the Survivor era can ramp up combat difficulty.
✅Features like puzzle hints via a scanner, additional weapons, and combat buffers are fully optional.

This is truly amazing, because I’m genuinely so burned out on crafting and progression systems, especially in this type of games. It feels like a chore rather than challenge or fun.
More games should try to offer ways to grow without the need for a skill tree or a crafting, and to make evolution more natural and organic

BioWare original co-founder Greg Zeschuk stated that the executives who shut down the studio “never made a game” and shed light on how detached from reality EA is regarding game design🚀
“There’s this weird belief that you can just kind of recreate great games with random people and AI. It doesn’t work.”

Zeschuck left BioWare after Mass Effect 3, and he’s been working entirely outside the video game industry the last few years.

Insomniac Games’ upcoming X-MEN game may possibly feature multiplayer playable characters🚀
@InsiderGamingIG stumbled upon multiple job listings looking for “combat, traversal, and 3Cs (Camera, Character, Controls) for an upcoming project.” along with “design and execution for one or more playable characters.”
The fact that it mentions “characters” in plural multiple times throughout the listing, along with the fact that it’s something to expect from an X-MEN game.
Which one is the X-Men do you wanna play as?😎

GOG DRM-free platform is getting into game publishing, as they’re launching Retrovibe by GOG🚀
✅Partnership with indie publisher Retrovibe to help developers launch games on PC and consoles.
✅Covers funding, marketing, media/creator outreach, and console certification.
✅Their upcoming two games won’t be GOG exclusives and will also launch on Steam.
✅Their upcoming games are:
1️⃣Cop Bastard (releasing October 29)
2️⃣Project Warlock: Lost Chapters
Big move for a DRM-free digital storefront incentivizing more original games coming on their platforms.
DRM-free digital games that can be burned on disc should become normalized, because if you can’t keep it forever, then it’s not yours💿

Ex-BioWare staff member claims that EA asked the studio to remove a flag that appeared to resemble the LGBT+ flag from Mass Effect Universe project, out of fear of offending people🚀
The ex employee also stated that their management wasn’t very convinced with with the game, contrary to what other reports said that EA was very excited (could be in reference to the new management after the acquisition?)
“I think the video proposals we presented to the new management weren’t convincing.”
He added that while BioWare being known for inclusive storytelling, this still didn’t help to put away the skepticism🤔

Ex-BioWare Producer Mark Darrah speaks to @InsiderGamingIG about how Anthem could have been saved🚀
✅Game suffered from an initial refusal to fully embrace being a looter-shooter genre from the start.
✅A long, widespread beta (ideally six months or more starting in early 2019) was desperately needed to catch deep-seated issues with the economy, lack of activities, and poor storytelling.
✅BioWare leadership mistakenly believed they could coast on a few “A” elements while letting other areas slip to “B-minus” or “C-plus” failing to realize that this genre demands high baseline execution across the board.
✅Darrah compared it to Medal of Honor Warfighter, noting Anthem ended up as a merely “competently executed” shooter, which translates to a failing grade in that specific market.
_________
I keep thinking about what kind of game Anthem would’ve been if it was made as a single player story driven Mass Effect spin-off.
The potential in that universe was incredible, and it could’ve even been its own IP or spin-off series, like NieR was to Drakengard

Jun Takeuchi absolutely DID NOT say that there was an ending planned for the series…🚀
He said there’s new games and remakes planned for the next ten years. They said nothing about a series “conclusion”😅
Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi has revealed that the series' narrative has a definite conclusion, and that end could come "in the next 10 years." bit.ly/3WAd457
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The IGN post mischaracterizes the quote: Takeuchi referred to concluding a specific 10-year branding plan and storyline arc (from the RE2 remake era) after Requiem as a milestone, not ending the series itself, and confirmed multiple new titles ahead.

Baldur’s Gate has reportedly sold over 23 million copies according to @alineaanalytics, generating over $1.2B in revenue🚀
Roughly 80% of sales were on Steam, making it the most essentially platform for the game’s massive success.
Which brings us back to the conversation of how value exclusivity is vs. the potential to sell so much on PC😎

Cyberpunk 2 is looking more likely to include multiplayer in some shape or form, based on recent job postings from CD Projekt RED, that mention multiplayer-related expertise🚀
Cyberpunk 2077 was originally meant to have a multiplayer expansion, but it was scraped. So it’s quite likely plans have moved to include it in CP2, whether as a separate mode or integrated into the main game😎

Jennifer Hale made a statement on BioWare closure and EA saying EA never understood BioWare and she hopes someone can buy and save the Mass Effect IP, among others🚀
“It’s really hard to think about BioWare being shut down, but it was in the hands of ownership that may not have understood what BioWare fully is.
And I’m hopeful that maybe there might be some crazy thing where they decide that, in order to increase their profit margins—which is often their priority—they will release these IPs into the market to sell them, and use that to do what they do, which is increase their profit margins.
Maybe someone could grab hold of these IPs and do something with them.
Mark Darrah also echoed her sentiment in a statement within the same interview:
“EA doesn’t understand BioWare. I’d argue it was an accidental acquisition.
EA bought VG Holding—which included BioWare and Pandemic—largely to acquire Pandemic and Knights of the Old Republic, because it wanted an MMO and the Battlefront developers.
In doing so, it ended up with BioWare Edmonton, the core old-school RPG studio. EA never really understood what it wanted from BioWare.”
