Holy moly. I think I'm going through an existential crisis: “Do I even matter?” "AI is too crazy right now!" "Why isn't anything fun anymore?" Well, action beats anxiety, so we came up with the most action packed thing we could think of. From Monday, Samira Sohail (pictured), Benjamin Bourdin (portraited) and I are building 40 apps in 40 days: Nov 2 to Christmas Day. Cheer us on or watch us fall on our faces. Join our link below 👇

How Stargate helped me fulfill a three-generation dream. It started as a dare… a weekend… and it ended up changing my life. - Read Fabienne's story If you think someone who could use this story today, share it with them ✈ --- If you’re seeing this post, you’ll be no stranger to how shows like Stargate, Supernatural, and Star Trek can completely influence, affect, and change your life. Sometimes, it’s introducing you to new friends; other times, it’s the comfort blanket when you feel lonely. And for many of us, it’s the catalyst that gets us traveling, leading to profound discoveries. While all of the stories submitted were special, today’s story is sort of an announcement, because it’s the first contributor story that kicks off the book—surprise Fabienne! When I first read Fabienne’s story, it had every element that makes fandom so great. Internet friendships, international travel, conventions, the highs, the lows, and proof that fandom isn’t just something that lasts a season. Fandom lasts a lifetime. Fandom is multigenerational. Enjoy. 📖 If you're curious about the book and want to buy a copy, visit amandatapping. org or our link in the X profile. 💜 If you’re unable to purchase a hardback or paperback edition of the book, don’t worry. A digital version of the book will be made free as a public service after the book releases.

Some of my nearest and most enduring "real life" friendships started as "fandom friends," and I am part of a beautiful global network of my favourite people. They understand how the extreme excitement of a convention, a play, or even just a new episode can so easily tip from a positive feeling of joy to an overwhelming feeling of TOO MUCH. - Read Ellie's story (@ellie5192) If you think someone who could use this story today, send it their way ✈ --- We’re officially into the autumn season. London has turned cool and wet—splish splash with our wellies, big warm blankets, and pumpkin spice lattes. It’s perfect weather for a comfy rewatch, which is exactly where today’s story goes. Ellie’s story from our final chapter, Fandom Saves Lives, is one of the most vivid descriptions of anxiety I’ve read, and one of the most hopeful. If you’ve ever put on a comfort show just to make it through the day, you’ll recognize yourself in this one. It's a lovely and heartwarming read. 📖 Purpose is a limited edition book with about 100 of 500 hardbacks left. 💜 If you’re unable to purchase a hardback or paperback edition of the book, don’t worry. A digital version of the book will be made free as a public service after the book releases. Visit amandatappingbook .org Read the rest in this thread 🧵

Thank you for the kind words Laurence! This is a really special book and we are constantly stunned by how open, vulnerable, and courageous the fandom has been by sharing their stories.
This is super important. My amazing friends @amandatapping, @bradtravelers and @lkao have put together a book about mental health and how fandom can be a positive force there. Too many people want to paint fandom negatively, turning people into reclusive nerds. The opposite is far more often true. Just ordered my copy. 149 left. Maybe I'll be stuffing some Christmas stockings with this too!

"These random TV shows" can lift you out of a low place to heights you never imagined. Moon's story is proof. This is our first featured story from @amandatapping's Purpose: Embracing Mental Health as a Fandom. Moon sent it in early on, before we'd even organized the book into chapters, and it felt like the whole book in one story. It sits in Chapter 3: Courage, which it has plenty of. But it's also full of humor and humility, loss and longing, friendship and fandom. I hope you love it. We all did when we first read it. Know someone who needs to read a story like this? Share it with them ✈ #Stargate #Sanctuary #AmandaTapping #MentalHealth #Fandom

Purpose is a unique crowdsourced book with over 120 contributor stories and hundreds more fans adding their favourite comfort songs, films, and shows. It's a true snapshot of where fandom has been over the last few years. We have a paperback edition releasing at the same time for stocking stuffers or you know, for someone like me that will read the paperback and keep the collector's hardback in as pristine a condition as I can, haha.

The book also includes hundreds more contributors to help answer questions like favorite comfort songs, films, and shows. The hardback is limited to 500 copies. There are 150 left, and then they're gone forever. The paperback will also be a single print run, closing before the end of the year.

Books begin shipping January 2027. And if the hardback or paperback isn't possible for you right now, that's completely okay. A free digital version will be made available as a public service, because these stories should reach everyone who needs them. You are not alone.
