A HCW (whom I had to ask to wear a mask in T1diabetic child's room) in a hospital told me that if they knew what was causing T1D-- they would surley try to prevent it.. I threw my hands up and asked-- "Would you?!" They had no idea that COVID is linked to #diabetes. #MedTwitter

When i was in hospital at one point in '22, neurologists suggested i might have MS as well due to the number of new lesions found on imaging & neuro symptoms i was having. It wasn't MS.

My heart reaches out to Gavin’s family and friends. My heart also reaches out to everyone in the LC community here on this platform. Every time we lose one of our own, it takes away a little bit from all of us.
Absolutely heartbreaking to hear this morning that my mate Gavin @Gavtaraysin has gained his wings 🪽🥲 G was such a lovely person who always showed me support and kindness. I will miss my our chats, banter. May he now rest in eternal peace ❤️

Here at the pain doc. Nurse didn’t have a clue what Long Covid was. I schooled her a bit, but could tell she was drifting and not listening. This is endlessly exhausting.

This man had #LongCovid from an infection in 2022. He was reinfected in 2024 and it made things worse. This was his last tweet. He’s now dead. Because #LongCovid kills. And there will be many more.
Called 999 and paramedics are on th way to take me into a&e (ED). Wish me luck guys 😢 🙏

Sadly, another person with LongCOVID has passed away. I didn’t know Broden well but he was a really nice, kind person and I came across this post from August, which is absolutely tragic because he was really struggling. My condolences and best wishes to those closest to him.

A fellow Long Covid friend, is gone. Forever missed. His last post was about 5 weeks ago, calling for paramedics and asking us to wish him luck Now he’s gone. I’m so sick of watching this disease destroy people while nothing real is being done. Year 7. People are still dying. People are still disappearing. And the world acts as if nothing is happening. RIP friend. You deserved better than this.

Our Long Covid advocacy groups are too busy having in-person workshops with poorly kids & no mitigations during a COVID wave to talk about prevention. I’m sure they told them to lie down afterwards to prevent PEM though 🫠😵‍💫

I got sick w #COVID Feb 2020 & stayed sick, 2021 my neurologist said certain that I had MS on top of #LongCovid-- Turns out it wasn't MS.. It's still LC.. We need biomarkers so people can get properly diagnosed & real treatments can be proved to help people w/ specific diseases.

Dear Friends, there is no “may be” here. Covid also fuses our neurons. And the processes that we hear are only occurring in those mysterious LongCovid bodies are happening in everyone after enough Covid infections. Good luck & Godspeed. sciencealert.com/brain-scans…

So it’s back in the house again (not me … yet). Doesn’t get clearer than that. Lit up in seconds. Positive on first day of symptoms for family member - constant sneezing, streaming runny nose & muscle aches. Let’s hope my personal precautions hold 😷 E Midlands, UK

Tomorrow, I aim to establish an initial world record for N95s worn during a 5K. 4 will be for my respiratory protection (1 at a time). The cape is made of 104 (39 + 26 + 39). Here's a sneak peek of the cape layers.

I couldn’t read a book for over two years after I got Long Covid. Anyone else?
I saw of video of Ethan Hawke lamenting how he's not reading half as much as he once did. This is a much deeper and darker pattern. Some of the most avid readers I know, lifelong readers, have basically stopped. They hate it and can't even explain it, the fire's just gone out

I couldn't read for over a year after I got sick. I'd read a page and retain nothing. As my brain started working again, I'd have to read a page about 5x and challenge myself on what I read before moving on to the next one. It was distressing. I don't ever want to do that again.

Covid is causing SO MUCH MORE damage to population health than almost ANYONE is willing to acknowledge. 'Long Covid' is just ONE PART of it.

I’m doing a 5K on October 18th to support research at the Tulane Cancer Center, here in the Deep South. I wanted to do something fun, so in addition to wearing an N95, I will wear an additional N95 on my person for every $50 donated (runsignup.com/mask). $50 = 1 N95 $500 = 10 N95s $5,000 = 100 N95s $50,000 = 1,000 N95s Any partial donation would help. $10 would add an additional mask for 1K of the race. A penny would add 1 meter with an additional mask. I’ll sum partial donations and round up in the end. Even a penny🪙 or reshare🔁 would help. FAQs World Record 🔹There does not presently appear to be a Guinness World Record for most N95s on an individual in a 5K. 🔹This year, I will go for an informal record. Guinness has not yet responded to my request to go for an official record, but there is always next year. Good Health, Safety, and Environmental Modeling 🔹I will mask properly. Extra masks will not be worn on top of my mask. 🔹All masks will be individually-wrapped N95s. I will eventually wear them or donate them, if someone wants them. Caveats 🔹It’s a fun run. All donations are final, even if weather or an injury strikes. Inclusivity 🔹There are many ways to support health and health justice. Please also contribute to your local mask bloc or engage in advocacy in other ways too. There are many great causes. 🔹Many people with chronic and serious illnesses are housebound or cannot run or could run but would then crash for days or weeks after. This is no endorsement of the primacy of exercise-based activities. How Your Donation Helps 🔹Your donation supports the fight against cancer and normalizes masking. 🔹Funds support the Tulane Cancer Center. Last year’s funds went toward a project to reduce the chances of bone metastases in the context of breast cancer. 🔹I avoid financial conflicts of interest like the plague, so I will not accept any payments or apply for any funds. Please help spread the word!
