I am an Isoko man from Delta State, and I will be voting for Omoyele Sowore @sowore in 2027. I have followed his political struggle and track record since 1989, and till date, none of our recycled politicians has convinced me that they can match his courage, consistency and commitment to liberating Nigeria.
Let us reason like adults and put tribalism, religion and political sentiments aside for once. If a man like Sowore, who spent about 20 years in the United States, decided to return to Nigeria to continue fighting for the liberation of his country, does that not tell you something about his commitment to Nigeria?
Ask yourself this simple question: how many Nigerians who have lived abroad and enjoyed the opportunities available in countries with better living standards have voluntarily returned to Nigeria to challenge a rotten political system, knowing fully well that doing so could cost them their freedom, comfort and personal security? Sowore chose to return to the struggle rather than simply enjoy his life abroad. That decision deserves serious consideration, not blind hatred.
If you think Sowore is enjoying Nigeria more than he would enjoy life in the United States, then you need to look beyond your tribal and political sentiments. Nobody should pretend that fighting corruption, challenging powerful politicians and demanding accountability in Nigeria is an easy task. Sowore has continued to confront these problems despite the personal sacrifices involved.
The man wants a Nigeria where citizens can enjoy electricity, quality education, affordable healthcare, security, decent jobs and a functional economy. He wants a country where public officeholders are accountable to the people and where political positions are treated as responsibilities rather than opportunities to enrich families and friends. Why should any ordinary Nigerian who genuinely wants a better country be afraid of such a vision?
Now, to those who mock Sowore and argue that he must first become a councillor or governor in his state before aspiring to become president, I have a simple question for you: what exactly have all the former governors, senators, ministers and other recycled politicians who have occupied positions of power done to fix Nigeria? Have their years in office eliminated corruption, insecurity, unemployment, poverty and the collapse of public institutions? If holding political office automatically made someone a better president, Nigeria would have become one of the greatest countries in the world by now.
Experience matters, but so do integrity, courage, competence, vision and a willingness to challenge a failed system. Becoming a governor is not a compulsory qualification for becoming president. Nigerians should judge Sowore by his ideas, his record, his consistency and his capacity to lead, not by the offices he has never held.
Sowore’s vision is not limited to Delta State, Ondo State or any particular ethnic group. His message concerns the future of the entire country. Nigeria’s problems are national problems, and they require national solutions. A man who wants to change the system that has kept millions of Nigerians poor should not be dismissed simply because he has not previously occupied a particular political office.
One thing I respect about Sowore is his consistency. He has spent decades challenging those in power, and he has continued to speak about the same problems that many politicians only remember when they need votes. You may disagree with his methods, question his proposals or demand more details about how he intends to implement his policies. Those are legitimate questions in a democracy. But dismissing him with insults, tribal sentiments and baseless assumptions does not solve any of Nigeria’s problems.

These poorly prison wardens need to understand that the Federal High Court is a public institution, not their private property. Their apparent lack of understanding of the role of the media is deeply troubling. Journalists have a legitimate duty to report on court proceedings and activities around the courthouse. Prison officials must respect press freedom and stop acting as though they have absolute control over media coverage of people entering and leaving the court.
