Have you ever wanted to open a TTD trace and analyze it for yourself, at the speed of .Calls()/.Memory() in WinDbg? Your wish has been granted! We have released an experimental version of our Replay API for you to use. See aka.ms/ttdsdk for documentation and samples.

Accidentally found a WinDbg Time Travel Debugger instruction emulation bug. Wrote a rudimentary fuzzer, found more bugs. One of the bug ended up as a instruction discrepancy between INTEL and AMD CPUs. cloud.google.com/blog/topics…

If you update WinDbg and debug user mode, you may notice a few new icons on the "extensions" tab related to "snapshots". There's now an extension included which can take and debug process snapshots in conjunction with a live process.

The latest TTD release includes some pretty cool changes; you can now 'break on registers' (!tt br) & navigate to the next module boundary (!tt bm) and more! 🔥 learn.microsoft.com/en-us/wi…

Hey folks you don't need to hear this from me but anyway go vote Kamala and put an end to this shameful period in US politics. I hope the rest of us will do the equivalent in our respective countries as we get our turn.

If you've updated WinDbg in the last week or so and open a kernel dump, you may have noticed that there's an "Extensions" tab on the ribbon and a few icons in that tab. On the latest debuggers -- extensions can add icons to the ribbon that invoke data model visualizations!

It's been a minute since we have released a new version of TTD! New version is now available (1.11.410) which fixes module selective recording, enables large queries via .Calls() and fixes some emulator bugs reported by our customers. aka.ms/ttd

This was a fun collaboration with Sinem to talk a bit about how Copilot helps us work on TTD.

If you've ever wanted to live debug user mode Linux processes (e.g.: in WSL) from WinDbg, with 1.2402.24001.0, you can! Start up a gdbserver in WSL (e.g.: gdbserver localhost:1234 ./vim) and connect to it via WinDbg's "Connect to remote debugger"

Last January, I noticed something peculiar in my 2yo’s bedroom that - after a year of obsessive reporting - led me to a profound cosmic revelation about what’s even possible in our universe. A 🧵.

Do you wish Time Travel Debugging was faster and more lightweight? Our latest version lets you decide exactly what you want recorded! Select modules to record or use the API for full control. Get your recording just the way you like it. Crusts optional. aka.ms/ttd

I'm not done with the training yet, but I thought: why not try Time Travel Debugging then, and use Step Out Back from the breakpoint until I reach the function which I'm truly interested in? Surprise, it works! This is so much easier, especially for frequently called functions

2/…you have to tell yourself that nature is not irrational; there is always an explanation, and it can always be found. Someone will find it, and that person can be me. If you don’t believe that, you won’t persevere and you won’t find the answer. But in my experience,… – at Alafaya, FL
