Being a lawyer is just spending all week looking forward to the weekend, then spending the entire weekend worrying about all the work you have the following week over and over again until you die.
Beyond the frame lies a personality that commands respect, inspires admiration, and embodies the true essence of royalty.

The KABAKA is a lovely great human being with an aura that you simply cannot purchase. Charles Peter Mayiga the KATIKIRO is one of the best public speakers we have at the moment. He is a very hard working man who just does his work with loads of restraint and class. No one will get anywhere by attacking these two. This I can tell you for free. No matter how veiled your assault on them will be Buganda is a very complex, and intelligent institution that manages its public engagement in a measured way having learned from its mistakes of the 1960s. One of the things Buganda and Mengo do very well is choosing who is worth their response. Banyooomi nyo eMeng' awo...Bwo bayisaamu olugaayu the first question that ask after making phone calls to each other is "Ono ye yaani?" Nga bakuba obukule and they move on past or around you. You simply will never know that this they did...They switch language from ordinary Luganda and start speaking in deep parables.
Buganda Lwazi...
I am not a monarchist myself for very Biblical Theological reasons but I am as well educated enough to respect and appreciate things I do not believe in. Buganda is one of the biggest, untapped tourism potentials that we have as a nation. It is amazing how many people go to Britain to visit anything related to the British Monarchy.
Our Politics needs to grow and appreciate that Buganda is here to stay. It has in the past had, and still makes a very large and positive contribution to this amalgamation we call a nation. The sooner we all see this the better. This is not to say that the institution has not made mistakes. Some reckless comments have been made by some people. Granted, but why would anyone sensible and educated wash away the baby and the birth water?

Justice Stephen Mubiru has ordered the estate of the late Prof George Kanyeihamba to pay Shs 45 million to Yusuf Kiwanda, a writer who said the retired judge used his work on a law textbook without paying or crediting him.
Kanyeihamba had contracted Kiwanda to help him revise his book on Constitutional Law and Governance in Uganda. Kanyeihamba said he would include Kiwanda as a co-author and also give him 30% of the money from the sales of the book.
Kiwanda added seven new chapters.
Along the way, the two fell out, and Kanyeihamba told Kiwanda, "never to come to him or call him regarding the book".
Kiwanda sued, and in his ruling, Justice Mubiru described what Kanyeihamba did as "a blatant, unauthorised commercial exploitation of Kiwanda's copyright". @BbegMedia

I had the honor to receive Judicial Officers and staff of Mengo Chief Magistrate’s Court, led by Her Worship Doreen Ajuna.
I emphasized the significance of the Judiciary in harmonizing citizens, by dispensing justice and ensuring that the rule of law prevails especially with regard to the underprivileged: the poor, juveniles, women.
Judicial officers ought to have courage as they administer justice without which we cannot realize positive social and economic progress.

Spotlight on Dr. Robert Kirunda: Beyond the Vantage–Bitature Case
The recent settlement of the long-running commercial dispute between businessman Patrick Bitature’s Simba Group and South African lender Vantage Capital has brought renewed attention to one of the lawyers at the centre of the nearly seven-year legal battle: Dr. Robert Kirunda, Founding Partner of Kirunda & Co. Advocates.
The dispute, which originated from a US$10 million financing agreement signed in 2014, generated numerous court proceedings, international arbitration and complex questions about commercial law, contractual enforcement and foreign investment in Uganda. Its eventual resolution through Supreme Court-led mediation brought an end to a dispute that, according to Kirunda, involved 34 proceedings across Uganda and England and Wales.
But beyond the Vantage–Bitature case, who is Robert Kirunda?
A corporate and commercial lawyer with more than two decades of legal experience, Kirunda has built his career around investment law, corporate transactions, commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
His academic journey began at Makerere University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree between 2000 and 2004, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Uganda's Law Development Centre in 2005. He subsequently obtained a Master of Laws in International Trade, Investment and Business in Africa from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, before pursuing another Master of Laws in Law, Science and Technology at Stanford Law School in the United States (2023–2024). He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
Since establishing Kirunda & Co. Advocates in 2012, he has worked across finance, infrastructure, technology, investment and commercial dispute resolution. His career has also included lecturing at Makerere University School of Law, serving on Uganda's Fourth Industrial Revolution task force and contributing to discussions on technology regulation and innovation.
In 2023, CEO East Africa Magazine recognised Kirunda among Uganda's 75 Highly Regarded Business Lawyers.
In an earlier interview with CEO East Africa Magazine, Kirunda offered some revealing insights into his philosophy of law, professional responsibility and commercial justice.
“People should not use the courts to avoid legitimate obligations,” he observed.
On professional integrity, he was equally emphatic: “Integrity is sitting across from a client and saying, ‘You will lose — don’t file,’ even if that means losing revenue.”
He also expressed concern about the state of Uganda's judicial system: “Courts don’t just resolve disputes; they guarantee the integrity of a country. But right now, our court system is painfully slow and dangerously troubled by worse problems than sloth.”
His outlook extends beyond conventional legal practice into the future of commerce and technology.
“Law follows commerce, and to lead in law (or any sector), you must think ahead,” he told CEO East Africa Magazine.
And his ambition for his firm is distinctly continental: “Our ambition is to build what we hope will become the most powerful, forward-thinking law firm on the continent.”

Death is a difficult subject for a founder. But refusing to discuss it does not protect the people or the enterprise you love.
Anyone building generational wealth must be firm about succession while they are still here to guide it.
Put the ownership arrangements in writing. Teach the next generation how the business earns and spends money. Give them real responsibility. Be clear about the values that must guide their decisions, and let them develop the judgement to make those decisions themselves.
These conversations may be uncomfortable. Leaving a family to work them out in the middle of grief is harder.
We cannot choose when our time ends. We can choose how well we prepare those who will carry the work forward.

BUGANDA’S INDEPENDENCE? 👀
Yes! On 8th October 1962, history unfolded at Bulange Mengo, one day before Uganda’s Independence. The Duke of Kent Prince Edward was received by Ssekabaka Edward Muteesa II as Buganda’s relationship with the British Protectorate entered a new chapter.
