Me on the first day of a 🇬🇧 Restore Britain government.
Gambling is not evil, and a Restore Britain Government will reduce taxes on the industry. Adults should be free to make their own choices about how they spend their own money - a wild thing for a political party to say, I know. Britain has a successful gambling industry that supports local economies all over the country. In my constituency alone we have horse racing, a greyhound stadium, plenty of arcades and more. We should be encouraging responsible operators to thrive, not taxing them into dust. Problem gambling is an issue and should be properly addressed. But punishing an entire industry, costing thousands of jobs, for the actions of a very small number is not the answer. Restore Britain will back British gambling.

I earn £100 grand a year. I have a detached house. 2 cars and my wife is a full time home maker. I can just about afford this. I probably couldn’t afford the house I own if I was buying for the first time today. My salary puts me in the top 5% of earners in the UK. Top 5% to have a similar standard of living to Homer Simpson. That is a disgrace. We have a flatter salary distribution than Soviet Russia and the highest taxes and borrowing costs we’ve seen in generations. Success is almost impossible because our tax system means hard work makes you a stressed out tax cow, not wealthy and certainly not free. We need something radical. Less state. More family. Less handouts. More reward for risk. Instead. Tomorrow, Labour will offer another batch of policies which will send one message to aspirational Brits: why bother.
I read a piece in the FT this week about the price of being middle class in Britain now and it said a couple earning £436,000 combined take home £216,000. That’s a crazy amount of tax, and it doesn't include VAT on purchases, council tax, stamp duty or other taxes (I think does include pension contributions). I can’t stop thinking about it.

Greyhound racing is worth protecting and we are proud of our people for taking our case to Downing Street. A huge thank you to the owners, trainers, staff and greyhounds who travelled to No. 10 and No. 10 North to deliver a letter to Prime Minister Andy Burnham, signed by over 1,000 people from across greyhound racing. 👏 Those 1,000+ names are trainers, kennel staff, vets, caterers, bookmakers, track workers and more. Together they’re the heart of a sport that has brought communities together for 100 years. Our ask is simple: fairness. From April 2027, the tax on online bets is set to rise from 15% to 25%. UK horse racing has been exempted. Greyhound racing hasn’t. This exemption is the right thing to do - but it needs to be applied to us as well. Greyhound racing supports 7,000 jobs, contributes £160m a year to the economy and gives towns like ours an affordable night out that’s been part of local life for generations. That’s worth protecting. Our sport is worth protecting. With the Budget just days away, here’s how you can help: ✅ Write to Luke Akehurst, MP for North Durham, and ask them to back the same exemption for greyhound racing as horse racing ✅ Share this post ✅ Come and support us trackside Let’s show everyone what our sport means to us. 🐾 #BackOurTracks #GreyhoundRacing #Budget2026 #TaxParity

The RSPCA are asking the public for help with their rehoming crisis, yet continue to use people's donations to campaign against greyhound racing. Supporters deserve to know whether their money is going on rescuing & rehoming or political rallying. The RSPCA must #PublishTheBill

Look what happens when you have no idea who you are letting into your country in huge numbers. Illegal mass immigration in to Europe has got to stop. Governments 1st responsibility is to the safety of its people. That has not happened for a long time. Liberal Suicidal empathy is self destruction

I want to thank Yarmouth Greyhound Homefinders for taking the time to let me meet some of the dogs yesterday. My salary donation will feed their greyhounds for several months whilst they wait for a new home. A really impressive charity who look after these charming animals. If you're looking to adopt a greyhound, I fully recommend getting in touch with their team.

Government cannot claim to care about animal welfare and working people while decimating industries that support them. Targeting businesses based on whether or not the PM likes them is elitist and just plain hypocritical. Me in the Daily Express 👇🏻 express.co.uk/news/uk/225770…
